We went there in hot july. Easy to reach from guilin. Didi, buses, .. Small streets are near and along the river. Very old houses. Dont be afraid to go deep in the small streets. I wouldn't visit from Guilin, but from the rice terraces it was worthwhile. I stayed two nights, but one night would've been enough if you leave the next day later in the afternoon. The bridge is best enjoyed early morning or at night without the chaos of salesladies and tourists. The villages were pleaant to wander around, though I felt really intrusive as a tourist. The Dong minority performances (3x daily, they get you to take a sip of baijiu at the beginning which you tip them for, most gave 10rmb) was interesting. Getting there: From Pingan (Dazhai would work too) I took a bus to Longsheng (10rmb) then another bus to Sanjiang (19rmb). At Sanjiang east bus station (he dong) there are minivan drivers outside who repeat "chengyang qiao" and will likely approach you if you look like a traveler. One charged 60rmb for 2 people but wouldn't go lower than 50rmb for 1. I ended up going with a driver for 80rmb (ticket "included") who transferred me to another driver at the very end who got me in without buying an official ticket, but who provided me with an old ticket (I was adament ahout wanting a ticket just in case, but no one ever asked for it). That driver helped me get a room for 50 rmb at Yang Yang Lv Guan (call Mr Yang2 136-7780-4018, no English), to the right side of Long Feng Hotel (80rmb). I bargained to a better room for the same price (instead of 60rmb) by staying two nights. Pleasant twin room with a nice view of village roofs and mountains, so-so bathroom, but I did see a roach taking shelter on the wall one night when it rained buckets outside. Going back to Sanjiang, I caught one of the local minivans for 10rmb though it should've been 6rmb. Buses from Sanjiang go to Nanning too, but i caught one to Guilin for 50rmb.See more..

I came here with the expectations of the height of a chair but came out with the height of a mountain. The park itself was quite nice and the many buildings included many interactive displays and activities. It costs 100 RMB per person to enter (50 for under 6) and comes with a tour guide who will explain it in Mandarin along the way. This is very underrated and should be among the highest. Amazing quaint village along the river. The "long hair women" will show how they fold their hair on top of their heads, really fascinating. Lunch at a local restaurant an experience, not so good and not very hygienic.See more..
I didnt know about this tower before travell to SanJiang. But when i entered it i was shocked. Such a great structure! I had only 20' after lunch, so make sure that u have more time to for exploring.See more..

Been there last week, it was amazing to see all this ancient buildings. There is hardly any commercial activities in the town, so that's what makes this place worth to travel. People there are very kind if you talk to them, they even invited me to watch TV with them on the street. And you can notice there are so many chickens and cows on the street, they are as free as human being there. There are not many visitors in the town, but Yangmei ancient town is full of history and spirit. Highly recommend to visit.See more..

It is a bonus visit in our trip to Hezhou, Guangxi. This village is nicely and naturally decorated, it should have history of more than 200 years. The village is in the form of rectangular shape, with wall of 3 metres height as fence and partition. There are not too many dwellers in the village. But in time of celebration, most villagers should be crowded in the area at the front of the village. It is now a place to air preserved sausage and pork. In the visit, we should pay attention to the details of construction, like sculptures on wooden window and door. Getting to the leaning tower is a bit difficult. It is not far outside of the city, but it is not a major tourist destination either. Signs direct you how to get there once you are on the correct highway. It cost only 15 RMB per person. Large signs in the parking lot and near the viewing platform explain the dimensions and history of the tower. The grounds leading to the tower are very well maintained with flowers, trees, and bamboo. The paved route takes you straight to the tower viewing platform. The plank routes are more circuitous passing by many vistas of the river. You can not access the tower. The gate is locked and there is no bridge as others have mentioned. We spent about 1 hour here taking photos. You can also get a good view of the tower from the opposite side of the river without paying a fee. See more..
I have been in this city many times, because of a family visit, but did not know of this place until i recently searched some information about the city and things to see. It's a nice building, the things very special about this one is that the big pilars in the building are not connected to the ground. You can put your hand under the pilar on each floor. The park next to it (Guifei Yuan) is very famous, because Yang Guifei is born in Rong County. You will see a statue of Yang Guifei in it, and the many scene's which are known from Yang Guifei.See more..
