We walked around the area during the day and did the night cruise in the evening. You can book tickets near the sun and moon pagoda and they will let you know where to board the boat. The cruise is quite expensive at 210 each but you will go under many of the bridges in the area, go in two canals and see lots of the buildings and banks lit up at night. We had a full boat so had troubles seeing outside the cabin at the beginning but we lucked out when they allowed us out on the boat deck at the stern because it was too cold for many people. We got good photos on the water but you can get a similar experience walking through the area as well and take your time doing it! If we were to do this area again we would walk around at night as it is prettier at night and free to walk around.See more..

Horrible place. There was tourist trap written all over it. 80RMB just to get in to wait an hour to start the tour. At least 30-40 people in the tour. The women gave a boring speech about the cave's history and the different structures of the cave. Upon entering, your are overwhelmed by the number of Chinese tourists fighting to take a picture of the "natural" formations. We eventually walked well ahead of the pack and made our own fun little tour (recommended). The entire place was lit up in glory which is common to see in China. The next complaint I'm writing to is for Green Peace because they had a large sea turtle trapped in a little box for public viewing. So cruel. Then there was a gift shop and fake hot springs and mud baths (see above complaints). Looking at the pictures, I'm starting to wonder if the entire place was just cement and lights. This is also a charming bay where you can take a close view of the fishing scene, several fishing boats on the shore--- quite a restful and peaceful sight. Inside, tourists have three ways along the canal: by foot, by boat (30 CNY one way) and by electronic car (10 CNY one way). The scenery is not bad, but it requires a certain degree of Chinese history knowledge to appreciate the scenic spot. Walking around the park takes around 2 hours. Taohua River is also called Peach Blossom River in English.The river is actually a branch of Li River which is the most noted river penetrating through Guilin.Taohua River and Li River have a confluence at the symbol of Guilin--Elephant Trunk Hill. Every time I pass the Red Bridge(Lize Bridge) where the water peacefully flows by,especially under the dusk,I just can't help totally being dipped myself in such a view.And that's why I regard it as a romantic river. I liked swimming upstream with the current and drifting back downstream for a great workout. Plenty of refreshments, nice people, locker rental. If you don't know the bus that will take you, hail a cab, pay the 30Kwai (pay no more than this), then take the yellow bus with no number back to Yizhou for 3 kwai. As the hot weather is coming, during the Labor Day, we went to the Lingshui Lake to swim. It took about 1 hour from Nanning to Wuming, and it's easy to find. As in the holiday ,there were many peoples went to swim, the water is clear and clean,it is the spring water, so very comfrtable to swim. And it is good for the children paly,too. This place is not crowed mainly because it is too far away from the downtown. In fact it is a very charming town with zhuang people. There are vineyards and passion fruit orchards, cattle and sheep graze serenely around the grassland. When I quietly look at them, they would also raise their head and curiously looked at me, I liked them. The river itself is not overly clean but the river banks along the centre of town have been well looked after and are definitely worth a walk along.
