4.5Guangxi Museum of Nationalities(46 reviews) - Fantastic museum a little ways out from the cbd Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Speciality Museums
The guangxi museum of nationalities is a wonderful place, with exhibits spread out over several levels. The highlights were the reconstructed models of traditional houses as used by the various minority groups. To make the most of your visit, you should allow for at least 2-3 hours. The museum is a little ways out from the city centre, so most likely you'll need to take a taxi, but the free entry makes up for it.See more..
Guangxi Provincial Museum gets down and dirty with the area’s history starting from over 40,000 years ago through a massive collection of some 50,000 relics. Included in the collection is pottery, bronze ware, literature, ceramics and clothing, much of it dating back over 200 years. Being that Guangxi’s population is 38% minority, there is some overlap between the content of the Guangxi Provincial Museum and the Guangxi Museum of Nationalities, but this one is surely worth some of your time. 034See more..
I came on opening day to the Yulin Museum. It is clean, modern, and impressive as well as free. All of the text is in Chinese, so be aware of that. I saw information about the history, inventions, and minority people of Yulin and surrounding areas. The top floor is not completed yet, but will have information about modern Yulin. Great!See more..
4.0Liuzhou Museum(6 reviews) - Not small Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
I live nearby and, far from being a small art museum as has been suggested, this is a large three storey museum with displays of Paleontology (including locally found fossils), Liuzhou Historical Culture, Liuzhou Minority Customs, Ancient Bronze Arts and Ancient Fan Painting & Calligraphy etc. There is a small art gallery on the first floor which holds temporary exhibits, but that is just a tiny part of the place. Exhibits are only labelled in Chinese The museum is open every day except Mondays, from 9 am to 5 pm (last entry 4 pm).See more..

Liuzhou is well known for its Fantastic Stone Festival, held irregulary, but usually every second year. Collectors come from all over China and beyond to see unusual-shaped stones which are often used with bonsai to create wonderful artificial landscapes. The range is amazing. But there is no neeed to attend the festival as this museum of stones is open year round. There is a very popular Chinese banquet set out in one hall here, in which all the food is stone. These are not carved or otherwise created but this is how they were found. Some are like abstract sculptures, but again are natural. They may have been polished, but that's all.See more..
It does not have to be raining to enjoy this facility. Whenever you go it will be memorable. Temporary deposit of ID enables the borrowing of headphones, certainly in English, but likely others. The displays are spacious and well laid out.See more..
Before this visit to Qinzhou, I learned that Nixing Pottery here is considered one of the 4 famous, classic types of Pottery / Porcelain in China. It was a wonderful afternoon visiting the Showroom, and factory. Nixing Pottery has a history of over 1,000 years. The business has a great Showroom with one room displaying the many Awards and Recognitions which this pottery has received both within China and Internationally. A Second room displays the many forms of pottery produced at this facility. All of the items in this Showroom are for sale. There are well informed staff who described the nuances and distinctive aspects of a particular piece of pottery. The pieces here range from tea cups, and tea sets to giant Vases over 5 feet tall. I was fortunate during my visit to have along a family friend who works for this company. I was allowed to go into the factory, and to observe the pottery being made. This included watching the potter work with the special, local red clay on the potter's wheel. It also included observing workers produce handles out of molds; and watching others polish the completed pottery. All of the workers were skilled at their craft. The back factory includes a section where senior artists carve images and characters into the pottery. This is a precise component of the manufacturing process. It was clear that these artists were most skilled in their work. Before leaving I purchased a large mug with an accompanying lid to bring home to Seattle, and to remind me of the wonderful afternoon spent here.See more..
