In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city's charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur's chamber. - Central of town really lively

    The Markt image
This is the centre of bruge, it is lined with bars and restaurants, although you will pay more for the food and beer in these places. I paid between 7-9€for a pint of beer in these bars. But it is worth stopping her for the Atmosphere. There is horses and carts here that will take you on a tour of bruge, but I’m not sure on the price. Also Situated here is the bell tower, that is definitely worth a visit up to the top, I think it was 14€ and it’s quite steep towards the top. Great view at night. At Christmas they have a central market there with maybe 20 Christmas stalls and also a big drinking tent . This all closes at 23:00 See more..

A very picturesque city, you can enjoy the different variations of architecture, from Medieval, Gothic, through to modern. There is plenty to see and we saw it during the day and night. At night it was fairly busy and we took in some lovely sights and sampled a couple of the pubs, restaurants and bars. we had a great time wandering around and i would definitely recommend it as a day trip visit or mini weekend break. We visited the cemetery with 2 couples and 1 child (9 years old). Driving up, I already caught my breath when I got a glimpse over the hedges of rows upon rows of crosses that stretch out into the distance. The numbers are staggering. 39000 graves are here. As you wander down, you can’t help but think about who they were, what were their dreams, what about their families.... you see graves of men who were the same age as you are now, have the same last name of someone you know, or shares the same birthday as your cousin. The cemetery is meticulously cared for. When you arrive, walk through the courtyard of the cafe, to the monument and up through one of the internal staircases to get an overview of the fields of graves. It’s a sobering moment. See more..
