Korenmarkt

Had a walk round here as it I believe the main square in Ghent. It certainly didn’t disappoint as the architecture is stunning. There are also numerous places to eat and drink if you want. Weather was a bit against us but it was certainly worth the effort. Definitely recommend and would love to visit again.

    Shopping & Shopping
There are lot of shops in this small square which is located in the center of Ghent. We had a very nice experience walking through the markt. Also we couldnt resist ourself from purchasing some souvenirs.

    Starting Point
This area is pretty much your starting point if you want to visit Ghent's City Centre; on one side you'll find the main shopping street, on the other side you'll be heading for the more Medieval core of the city, with its "Gravensteen", "Vleeshuis" and "Patershol". Behind the old postal building you'll have a great view of the city and you can take (highly recommended) boat tours. The buildings are exquisite and you can tell how much it means to the inhabitants to stay close to its past, whilst incorporating modern-day life as well. You'll also find some nice places to eat (though I'd recommend walking just a little bit ahead for cheaper and often better places). Just take tram 1 from anyplace towards "Korenmarkt", and you are ready to explore the city!
