    - Always working hard to improve

    Ischgl-Samnaun ski area image
Some ski resort do the bare minimum but this isn’t one of those. Having not been here for a couple of years, we were very impressed with the number of lifts that had been upgraded. Throughout the week, we only rode on one older style chairlift. Most of the new ones have heated Recaro style seats. Whilst we were lucky with the level of snowfall while we were there, this didn’t stop the region regularly using their huge number of snow cannons on the ‘at risk’ areas. I really liked the addition (since we were last here) of the three ‘Smugglers’ ski routes although I think even more should be done to clearly mark the whole routes - not just at the start of each piste. Due to the grading of the slopes, I wouldn’t recommend the region for beginners. See more..
  4. 4.5 Stubaier Gletscher (1.340 reviews)
    - First Time not the Last Time
Monday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Stubaier Gletscher image
The ski resort is run by a group of people devoted to safety, great skiing and a fun atmosphere. The food option are actually world class at the restaurant at the mid-point of the mountain. The adjoining glass circular bar has a roof that opens to let in the see and give a perfect view of the glacier and ski runs. Much more affordable between rentals and lift passes than anywhere in the North American ski resorts. See more..

    Zell Am See image
An absolute amazing place to stay or visit. So much to do: Cable cars Gondolas Swimming Ice skating Boating Cycling Eating Shopping Paddle boardibg Banana boating Paddle boating Steam train Buses (lots and on time) Lots of drinking Sun bathing Relaxing Adventuring Can't fault this place - it has everything even for our two young kids. The place is spotless and everyone is enjoying life. Lots of other local places to visit and most all free of charge to get there using public transport. Recommend staying at a hotel that offer the Zell an See / Kaprun Summer Card and it can be an affordable holiday, even so you will get discounts everywhere for just being a visitor.we will be back very soon. Weather was great which helps - boiling hot during the day and cooling off with rain and thunder over night - so it worked out well. We will never forget such a wonderful holiday and hope to be back next year, now we know what and where to go Fantastic See more..
  6. 4.5 Rosshutte (1.061 reviews)
    - Stunning hiking area
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Rosshutte image
Walking path not for beginners as some areas are pretty steep and or not so easy if you're not fit. Would not recommend for children. You need good hiking shoes as trainers would slide a lot with al the small stones. It takes about 2 hours there and back at medium pace. The scenery during the whole hike is just beautiful :-) See more..

    Ski Arlberg image
Lech is a great place to ski the Arlberg even if you can't afford the top class hotels. There's good value accommodations too. Nicely positioned to take advantage of the extensive Ski Arlberg region, and a quieter more sophisticated place than St Anton. Enjoy a Champagne Aperol at the Hotel Krone. See more..
  10. 4.5 Obergurgl Hochgurgl Ski Area (707 reviews)
    - Great snow, great lift system
Spent More than 3 hours Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Obergurgl Hochgurgl Ski Area image
The ski area is really excellent. Snow is almost guaranteed to be good because it is so high up, and the lift system is outstanding. It may be a tad small for a full week if you're a good skier, and the flipside of being so high up is that you're more exposed to wind and low-lying clouds, but you can't have it all I guess. 12. 4.5 Obertauern Ski Resort (600 reviews)
    - Well maintained ski trails in amazing scenery
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Obertauern Ski Resort image
There are seven mountains around Obertauern, interconnected by about 100 km of ski trails. That's the Super 7 circuit (S7) and it's really challenging. We've done 6 out of 7 and can say that the scenery is breathtaking. The ski resort is located at about 1700 m altitude, so the snow should not be a problem. We've been here in December and found all the slopes covered in snow. The ski trails are large and well mainteined, and all the chair-lifts are new. The Obertauern ski pass is also valid in Grosseck-Speiereck resort, located about 15 km away. There are ski buses connecting the two resorts and the ride is free for those who have a valid ski pass. 13. 4.5 Nassfeld Ski Resort (385 reviews)
    - Great find!
Spent More than 3 hours Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Nassfeld Ski Resort image
We were staying in Kranjska Gora where snow conditions were poor. A 50 minute drive across the border to Austria and we found Nassfeld. Fabulous snow conditions, fast efficient lift system. Once you head up the millennium express gondola the area opens out to a whole new area which borders Italy. Well maintained pistes, seems very snow sure, as there were lots of snow cannons. Mostly north facing slopes, with a wide choice of runs, easy to navigate. Mainly red runs, some blue and looked some good off piste opportunities. Ideal for a family stay, with opportunities for different levels of skiers to meet up. Cosy traditional mountain restaurants with a mix of Austrian and Italian food. All this within and easy drive of Ljubljana or Klagenfurt airport. Just don’t tell everyone! See more..

My husband and I had a superb day out cycling with Tom, an experienced cycle guide. The detail and care with explaining how to use the electric bikes on different terrain was excellent. His local knowledge, accompanied with very interesting stories made the trip very memorable. The route was just fantastic, and Tom stopped before major junctions to explain the next part of the route, to ensure safety and how we were doing. We are both in our early 70's and fairly experienced cyclists, but we really felt the whole experience was most uplifting and one of the highlights of our holiday. Thank you Tom! See more..

  18. 4.5 Molltaler Gletscher (195 reviews)
    - Great hiking + glacier
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Molltaler Gletscher image
We got there by combined train & cable car, however we did some walking afterwards and we enjoyed it very much! Of course, glacier was the biggest attraction of this place - we walked up over the ice, however it was safer to take a different route down (alongside the glacier). It was also great temperature 'experience' as it was sunny day during very hot summer: there was over 30C at the foot of the mountains and 6C at the top. We rated our visit to Molltaler Gletscher, as our best holiday experience this year. See more..
  19. 4.5 Skigebiet Warth Schröcken (188 reviews)
    - Worth the effort
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Skigebiet Warth Schröcken image
If you are staying at St Anton, Warth is the furthest mountain included in your lift pass and not too difficult to access. You will likely have found your way to Zurs & Lech before this, so off to the right at the top of Lech, you can catch the Auenfeldjet cable car across to Sonnenjet, and at the top of Sonnenjet, cross over to Warth and a variety of runs from there. A good variety of runs, lifts and eateries await. On the other hand, Schrocken was not worth the trouble. Quite flat in long sections and out of the way with little to offer, taking a lot of time and effort to get away from once you (accidentaly) venture to those small chairs See more..

  21. 4.5 Silvretta Montafon Nova (145 reviews)
    - Amazing ski area

    Silvretta Montafon Nova image
We have been coming to this area since 2009 and the area keeps on improving. From the cable car station in Sankt Gallenkirch you can choose to go up two different mountains. The Valisera mountain with the beautiful Sonnenbahn (piste 30) (perfect for practicing your technique) and the long track down to the cable car (piste 20) or the Hochjoch mountain with the longest skitunnel of the world and the Nike fun and cross park. Enough fun for everyone! See more..

  23. 4.5 Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG (81 reviews)
    - Great view from Walmendingerhorn
    Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Kleinwalsertaler Bergbahn AG image
This is one of the cars this company offeres which is going up to Walmendingerhorn. The top station is very near to the peak which you may be able to climb if weather conditions allow. We had this time no chance as to much snow was covering the steep path. You can go skiing from the top station but there is no trail for walking in the winter time. A sun Terrasse with complementary sun seats and blankets invites to enjoy view and fresh air. See more..

    Sport 2000 Friedrich image
Booked ski hire from here in advance via the 'net for my family - very reasonably priced. On arrival the staff were English speaking and helpful. The equipment is good quality and it wasn't too busy. The only extra cost was insurance which I hadn't counted on but thought was necessary. My son swapped his skis for a snowboard halfway through the week with no problems. On return the staff were again friendly and efficient. See more..
