Different day out but a bit expensive!
Had a great day starting at about 10am, coming down around 15:30. Plenty of different cable cars, all different types! Sensational views and we went right to the top where we had lunch looking over the 3000 metre peaks. Also had a sledge ride on a small run of snow that's for the kids to play in. Tickets purchased at the office in Kaprun, for 2 adults and 2 kids its about 200 euro so not a cheap day but if you're here, you must do it. Only thing I'm unsure about is that they say its a glacier, but I never saw a glacier! I thought these things are around all year due to the size, but I understand we went in summer. Also, bought a combi ticket which allows 1 run on the amazing fun Toboggan. A must again!

Gorgeous views from the top of the mountain
If you like hiking then the Kitzsteinhorn is something for you. You can take the cable car at the start until the middle station. From there on you can start hiking around and go up or down the mountain. During september it is very calm and you will find sheep and people working on the way and gorgeous views. From the middle station you can take the cable car and go up to the Alpin center where you'll find more hiking paths. From the Alpin center you can take again the cable car to the top of the mountain where you'll find a bit of snow and where you go to the top of the mountain. There you'll find a museum about rocks and you can go to the platform and take pictures. Should you want to do this, choose a day where it is sunny during the whole day and be prepared to pay for the trip because it costs almost €50 per person. The best way is to buy the Zell am See/Kaprun card. That card gives you reductions to different attractions in Kaprun and Zell am See.
