This lengthy street contained the Servite Church at which we attended Mass on a Sunday afternoon at 1730 hours, but the night before, we went for a stroll along it. The street has a mix of newer and historic buildings with the iconic superb view seen so often in postcards. There was no rubbish anywhere even though I don't recall seeing rubbish bins. The Golden Roof dating from 1500 had quite a few photographing and videoing it, but my wife was easily able to sneak in to have her photo taken. Because we saw it at dusk, the attached museum was closed. Safety did not seem to be a problem, and it wasn't so crowded that pickpockets would try their luck. See more..

This is the most delightful part of Bregenz, yet it is the area most people miss if they stay in the shopping/restaurant area of town closet to the lake. You need to head uphill towards the altstadt to reach the really pretty part of town. The architecture of the buildings is interesting and there are quaint sculptures and houses. Look out for the smallest house in Europe (57cm wide!) on Kirchstrasse. See more..
