    - The Pearl of Carinthia!
Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water

A beautiful lake surrounded by green hills with high mountains in the background. We have spent one day visiting several beaches and picturesque villages with old churches located on the shore of this lake, looked at it from the top of Pyramidenkogel Tower. The colour of the water was amazing. Then, on the second day we enjoyed a boat trip from Klagenfurt to the Velden am Wörthersee (and back) to see everything again bat from the water side. Highly enjoyable experience! See more..

A very scenic, stunningly beautiful mountain lake. There are some public beaches at various places along the shoreline. Water is of course quite chilly even in summer. Cycling around the lake is great fun and can be done on the eastern side See more..

DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! It is just stunning. We opted to catch the cable car up and then do a walk from the top. This worked out great for us as then we had fresh legs for the walk! We walked to Totalphutte hut (and enjoyed a nice cold beer!) and then walked on a little further so we could say we hiked to Switzerland! Nice clearly marked track, all up (with beer time, stopping for photos) the hike to Swiz boarder took us about 4 hours. Was not highly difficult. An easier (and flat) option would be to walk around (or part way around) the lake. See more..

We stayed for a few days and enjoyed the beginning of the post covid era. Weather was not really great, so we couldn’t judge if the lake is actually really the warmest in the Alps s they claim here. Lots to do and see, pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. See more..
