Lake Worthersee, Austrian Alps, Austria
4.5 (913 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #1 in Austrian Alps Bodies of Water
The Pearl of Carinthia!
A beautiful lake surrounded by green hills with high mountains in the background. We have spent one day visiting several beaches and picturesque villages with old churches located on the shore of this lake, looked at it from the top of Pyramidenkogel Tower. The colour of the water was amazing. Then, on the second day we enjoyed a boat trip from Klagenfurt to the Velden am Wörthersee (and back) to see everything again bat from the water side. Highly enjoyable experience!

The very diamond of Austria
Considered the Most beautiful lake in Austria with the best drinking water quality. All kinds of watersport activities from May to late September. Try to avoid the high season from July-August. Besy spots are Pörtschach and Velden and Dellach (for GTI) fans.

The best lake in Austrria.
This lake is one of the warmest reaching 28C in summer. Its has a standard as Drinking water quality. One end is Klagenfurt and the other end 22km.is Velden with the famous hotel, Schloss Hotel. It was also used for an Austrian TV series of the same name. Chelsea FC also had their summer camp there for 2 years a few years ago. Trips around the lake start from the pier at the Klagenfurt end, the first ship sails at 8am, followed by another at 10,12 and 2pm. There are also even g sails and a special moonlight sail every full moon. With cold winters it can freeze completely making a big skating area but this is not every year, but ice skating is always available.
