This is perfect starting point for whole day walking. You can reach it by bike, but most people come by car (you need to pay to use alpine road). There is large parking place - i arrived at about 10 a.m. and there were enough parking places (later it can be more crowded). There are so many options: - You can visit an exhibition besides parking place about this electric power plant - You can walk on dam and take nice view from sightseeing platform - You can have a nice walk by the accumulation lake - maybe only few kilometers, or take all long to the end and Osnabrucker Hutte and back (more than 15 km) - If you prefer more demanding mountain walk, you can reach the peak of Great Hafner that is over 3070m high or some other lower peak aroud the accumulation lake See more..

    Malta High Alpine Road image
Whether you're a keen driver or just want to admire the stunning Alpine views, you'll love the Malta Alpine Road. There's a small toll (per passenger) and off you go. The higher you climb, well it just gets better and better. Spectacular scenery, twisting roads, ancient tunnels, and we stopped off at several spots along the road for photographs, including hiking trails past many spectacular waterfalls. The adventure continues at the top of the trail where you can cross the vast Kölnbrein Damn. There is literally something for everyone here. Allow at least half a day to enjoy this visit properly.
