From his earliest childhood memories, Alberto Marsetti recalls being in the vineyards with his uncle Antonio. The vineyard terraces spread across 12 hectares are located in Sondrio and the surrounding area. The cellar is based in the historical town of Sondrio. Here, in Scarpatetti, traditional DOC wines such as Rosso di Valtellina, DOCG wines such as Valtellina Superiore Grumello and Vigna Le Prudenze as well as the precious Sfursat di Valtellina are available for tasting. In 2020, Alberto introduced a new line of IGT wines with the Alpi Retiche “IM” - I am - series. Through these wines, he has sought to create a personal and distinctive wine, anchored in environmental sustainability. 12. 4.5 Cascate Acquafraggia (776 reviews)
    - hiking by the falls
    Waterfalls
    Cascate Acquafraggia image
From the hamlet of Borgonuovo in Piuro one has great views of the about 150m high double jump of the Acquafraggia waterfalls. To get closer to the falls requires some fitness. We had come here by hiking from the small village of Savogno, first on the 'mulattiera', the old mule track, then branching off to the right towards Acquafraggia. The stream of that name drops for 1800m on a stretch of 5km, so it is a wild piece of water most of the time. It is a beautiful walk, quite easy in the upper part, with small footbridges crossing the river, but towards the end, where the falls are, the path is becoming very steep. Often one goes down on ladder-like steps, at least with railings most of the time. At a certain point there is a branch-off to a viewpoint just by the falls, which is fantastic. All in all a great nature experience. See more..
  13. 4.5 Passo di Gavia (744 reviews)
    - Beautiful but dangerous. So be careful
    Historic Walking Areas
    Passo di Gavia image
You can drive this pass either on a motorcycle or in a car. But be aware of the lack of safety rails along the road. It is quite a dangerous road, and there is not a lot of space, when you have to pass other cars og motorcycles. It you´re a beginner on a motorcycle I dont think you should do it. If you decide to do it, then it is a beatiful road/pass and there are som wonderful views. See more..

Great experience for only 5 euros per person. Children under 2 go for free. The view of the valley is amazing. We went when the clouds were coming, initially it was sunny then within 5 minutes the whole bridge was in the clouds, it was very eerie but great. Only takes a few minutes to walk from one side to the other, but we were there for nearly an hour taking videos and photos. My youngster enjoyed it, enjoyed being up so high and in the clouds. Would recommend . See more..
  17. 4.5 Forte Venini di Oga - Valdisotto (217 reviews)
    - Beautiful
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
Forte Venini di Oga - Valdisotto image
Curios place, with an amazing view. Advice to take a ride in the area and entering the museum. Also not far to walk you will find the Paluaccio Oga (The important nature reserve (some 30 hectares) known as "Paluaccio di Oga" lies around Forte Venini a humid peaty area characterised by dome-shaped sphagnum (bog moss) alternatin with small water puddles. The typical peat-bog vegetation is rich with very rares species. Vaste pine, spruce, larch and stone pinewoods surround the marsh. The specific features of Paluaccio di Oga are really unusual for our alpine regions, and that adds to its scietific value.) See more..
  18. 4.5 Palazzo Besta (167 reviews)
    - Top view in Teglio
    Wednesday: 10:15 AM - 12:45 PM, 2:15 PM - 4:45 PM Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
    Palazzo Besta image
Palazzo Besta is one of the best preserved palaces of the Renaissance period in Lombardy. It was built during the 15th century. Right after the ticket counter, on ground floor in the spaces of the guardhouse, there is the "Antiquarium Tellinum" exhibition, with several prehistoric stelae. A beautiful rectangular patio is next, with a double loggia and walls frescoed with episodes from Aeneid and an octagonal well. All the lounges on the first floor have frescoes with mythological subjects from Ovid's Metamorphosis, Ariosto's Orlando Furioso ("Raging Roland"), and motives from the Bible. In the Creation lounge there are frescoes with subjects from Genesis, and on the ceiling a great geographic representation of the earth as known during the Renaissance period. During my visit, I was also lucky as there was on exhibition a portrait of the Emperor Charles V, on loan from the Uffizi museum in Florence. See more..

  27. 4.5 Via Spluga (33 reviews)
    - Via Spluga in 3 days instead of 4
    Hiking Trails
    Via Spluga image
Via Spluga is a great hike, even for people with little experience in the mountains. Most would do it in 4 days, but we decided to get it done in 3. If you want to do so, too, I'd advise the following stages: Thusis to Gasthaus Rofflaschlucht on day 1, then to Montespluga on day 2 and then on the third day to Chiavenna. There are plenty of fountains along the way as well as opportunities for swimming in the crystal clear streams. See more..
