  1. 5.0 Marmolada (673 reviews)
    - above the clouds
    Mountains
    Marmolada image
Marmolada cable car is an amazing experience. It rises in three stages and round trip costs 30 euro. It is also called the "Queen of the Dolomites". Service, in summer, runs from 09.00 till 16.00hrs. The third stop is Punta Rocca at 3265 mts. Here you will find a large sun deck to relax, take pictures and admire the beautiful mountains around you. There are stairs to take you higher up. You can also take a lift down to the glacier, which has been covered in part with white material to make walking easier. You can proceed further afield and walk up paths, you must be cautious. The second stop is Punta Serrauta, there is a cafeteria/restaurant for a quick snack, food is average. A souvenir shop is right alongside. But more of interest is the War Museum, free admittance. Take a jacket with you as temperatures on top are low. A must do and one of the high lights of our holiday. See more..

    - Awesome and unique
    Spent 1-2 hours Mountains
    Cinque Torri image
On a 20 minute drive from cortina D’Ampezzo you can take a cable car (5 torri) to this beautiful wonder. From there you can immediately see the astonishing rock formations. It is a easy short walk to the Torre itself. You can walk around these unique rock formations, it is a nice walk of around 2 kilometres. You can also enjoy the rock climbers that go up or learn something about the world war and how that played out in these mountains. At the top of the cable car there is of course a rifugio to enjoy the view with a meal or drink. You can also start other hikes to surrounding mountains. See more..

  6. 5.0 Marmolada (156 reviews)
    - Spectacular Glacier in the Alps
Tuesday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Sightseeing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Ski & Snowboard Areas
    Marmolada image
I have been coming to the Marmolada for nearly 50 years, and it is still an amazing trip. Flying over the Alps to Venice or any of the smaller airports nearby, it is plainly visible from the air...it is one of the highest spots in all Italy! The draw is the vast glacial expanse you see from the top, but the hidden gem is the WW 1 museum inside...there was an entire "Ice City" here carved out of the glacial snow pack. If anybody knows this place, it is actually a little sad to see it now... Global Climate change has reduced the size of the glacier to a fraction of it's former glory. That is probably the best reason to visit- it might not be here much longer. See more..
  7. 5.0 Guide Dolomiti (108 reviews)
    - Undoubtedly the best guide in Cortina!
Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Ski & Snow Tours • Walking Tours • Climbing Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Guide Dolomiti image
We just had the most exhilarating, fun, and rewarding couple of days with Enrico! Enrico is charming and confident with a great sense of humor, and has been climbing the mountains around Cortina his whole life–so he knows the best routes, views, and also how to keep his guests safe. We’re an athletic couple in our 30s, and without any significant climbing experience we were able to scale ridges and peaks that I never would have imagined all while taking in the most incredible views. We climbed the ferrata degli Alpini and ferrata Olivieri, ending each ferrata with a beer or an Aperol spritz! I’m so grateful for the opportunity to push my comfort zone, while knowing I’m in great hands–and climbing with undoubtedly the best guide in the Dolomites! See more..

    Lago di Misurina image
Great Lunch Stop on the road from Venice to the Dolomites. (Drive onto the TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO.) The walk around the lake is easy and well worth the time. Much more enjoyable than the Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee. See more..
  10. 4.5 Lago di Sorapiss (914 reviews)
    - Gorgeous and worth the hike!!
    Bodies of Water
    Lago di Sorapiss image
It took us about 2.5 hours of mildly strenuous hiking to get there and it was worth every second. Sure the lake is much smaller right now (sep/2021) than it normally is but the water was just as stunning and I was still breath-taken. The hike was not terribly difficult, but I wouldn’t recommend taking children or going if you have any major health issues as it was definitely not a walk in the park. Amazing views the whole way though! See more..

Pizza 7 Sal was also fab. Definitely considering going back ! See more..
  15. 4.5 Museo all'Aperto delle 5 Torri (340 reviews)
    - Fascinating
    Ancient Ruins
Museo all'Aperto delle 5 Torri image
I am very fascinated by the story of WW1 in the Dolomites, and have visited the area around the Cinque Torri Open Air museum many times, including well before work began to create it. What has been done is not intrusive, and tells its story very well. Accessible by chairlift from just off the Falzarego pass road (last day of operation 22 September in 2013). The views all around the Cinque Torri are stupendous. See more..

    Monte Piana image
I used the Land Rover shuttle up and Lorenzo was such a lovely gentleman. He showed me the best route to walk back and I had the best afternoon/evening of my trip in this heavenly place. The views are extraordinary on the whole 360 degrees panorama. I pretty much had the place to myself and there are lots of trenches etc to explore if you can take your eyes off the view. It's a great way to escape the crowds in this region. I am very grateful for the Monte Piana taxi / shuttle. See more..

    - Amazing Tofana Monuntain Ranges!

    Tofana image
We did a day trip to Cortina d’Ampezzo from Venice by taking FlixBus with advanced purchase of this tickets using FlixBus APP. Three-hour bus journey departed from Venezia Tronchetto to Cortina Autostazions cost €21.98 round trip per person. It was end of winter beginning of spring, hence an off peak season. It was quiet when we reached Cortina d’Ampezzo. After lunchtime, we proceeded to Faloria Cable Car Station (within 10 mins walk in Cortina d’Ampezzo town) to go to the ski resort at €19 round trip (which maybe off peak season price) per person. Cable car took 15-20 mins to reach the ski resort. The mountain ranges of Dolomites view at the ski resort had blown us away. It was spectacular view on a sunny day. There is a viewing platform, and a restaurant to relax and chill with the lovely views. Small ski resort but the views were good enough to impress us! There were still many skiers having fun at the skiing slopes. Even a non skiers like us were having fun with great time too! See more..

    Passo Falzarego image
You can leave the car and go to the top of the Lagazuoi (you can walk or take the cable car - it’s not a difficult walk but is is not easy either. The World War I tunnel is though as it is very slippery - it’s a chilometrate long path with irregular steps). When you get to the top it feels you are almost in heaven - just a bit of a busy heaven as it is a very popular spot See more..

Even though this is a very easy ferrata and can be done even without the equipment, it offers great views and a nice trip. If you're a beginner you can do it to get used with the equipment. Ahh, and you'll pass under two waterfalls - definitely a must do :). It is easy accessible from Fiames - stop at the second parking on the left, as you come from Cortina and pass camping Olympia. At the top there is a belvedere point, where you can make an enjoyable picnic. Altogether, a relaxation day in the nature See more..

    Waterfalls
    Le Cascatelle image
Absolutely a must to see after visiting Sappada Vecchia . They are easy to find and reach after been walking through the old part of the city. It creates a little scenic atmosphere and represents the purity of the place ( along the path is full fountains with potable water ). Absolutely worth the journey . Ps: once arrived at the bottom of the waterfalls , I suggest you follow this steep uphill path that begins on the rightend side; looks like it goes nowhere , nevertheless it will turn into a magic little climb towards the top of the mountain. Go and explore guys ! See more..
