  2. 4.5 Museo Egizio (25.0k reviews)
    - Oldest Egyptian Museum in the world
Monday: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Art Museums • History Museums
    Museo Egizio image
The Museo delle Antichità Egizie is the only museum other than the Cairo Museum that is dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture. Many international scholars, since the decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs Jean-François Champollion, who came to Turin in 1824, spend much time pouring over the collections. It was Champollion who famously wrote, “The road to Memphis and Thebes passes through Turin”.The collections that make up today’s Museum, were enlarged by the excavations conducted in Egypt by the Museum’s archaeological mission between 1900 and 1935 (a period when finds were divided between the excavators and Egypt). The Egyptian Museum in Turin has begun 2009 an important project which wants to widen spaces in order to enhance the collections through modern museographical and museological criteria. The Museum will be open all over the period of restoration and the New Egyptian Museum inauguration is scheduled for the year 2015. See more..
  3. 4.5 Museo Nazionale del Cinema (13.4k reviews)
    - Fantastic views from the top of the building - museum a big bonus
Monday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Speciality Museums
    Museo Nazionale del Cinema image
The Museum is one of the most important of its kind in the world thanks to it vast collection and the many different scientific and educational activities it carries out. But what makes it truly unique is its special exhibit setup. The museum is located inside the Mole Antonelliana, a bizarre and fascinating monument which is the symbol of the City of Torino. And the various areas inside the Mole Antonelliana were the starting point for the Swiss set designer François Confino who, with talent and imagination, multiplied the museum's itineraries. He created a spectacular presentation that offers visitors continuous and unexpected visual and acoustic stimuli, just like when we watch a film that involves and moves us. See more..
  4. 4.5 Mole Antonelliana (9.538 reviews)
    - The symbol of Turin
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
    Mole Antonelliana image
This grand building, built just after the Risorgimento and originally designed to be a synagogue (but it never was), rises high above most of the buildings in Turin. Nowadays, it houses the amazing National Museum of Cinema. You can go up to the top of the dome and contemplate the marvelous view that open - the whole city of Turin, its surrounding area and the Alps. You can use the lift or you can go on foot, climbing the stairs (not recommended though for obvious reasons) and you will need a ticket which can be combined with a visit to the cinema and you will save some euros. Although it was Christmas time, the line was not big but the roof was quite packed and we had to be patient to get the best photo-shoot spots. See more..
  5. 4.5 Juventus Stadium (8.088 reviews)
    - Impressive stadium
    Arenas & Stadiums
    Juventus Stadium image
We combined the tour of the stadium with a visit to the museum and we all did enjoy the both. The stadium is pretty new and very well maintained which, of course, is understandable when we talk about such a great club as Juventus. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was giving a lot of information about the history of the club and its present events. Although the tour group was quite big and the guide was talking in Italian and English, he was able and patient to answer all the questions. Prior to starting the tour, we watched a 2-3 minutes 3D movie about Juventus and its most memorable matches for which we had to pay a couple of euros more. The tour included the grandstand, the pitch, the dressing rooms, the press room, etc. After the stadium tour we went to the museum and finally to the store for some outfits and souvenirs. Would be awesome to visit a match here one day..... See more..

    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Piazza San Carlo image
Piazza San Carlo was designed by Carlo di Castellamonte in 1642 and completed in 1650. In the middle of the piazza you’ll find the equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto (known to all as “El Caval èd brons”), sculpted by Carlo Marocchetti in 1838. 8. 4.5 Piazza Castello (4.688 reviews)
    - Torino
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Piazza Castello image
Designed in 1564 by Vitozzi. It's lined with porticoes and is the real heart of the city: here and hereabouts stand the great buildings that have witnessed the development of the city, from the ancient Roman era to our days. In the middle of the square stands Palazzo Madama and on the side you could see The Royal Theatre, The Royal Palace , the Royal Library (that houses Leonardo da Vinci 's operas). In Piazza Castello (The Castle Square) begin the most important central streets, like Rome Street, Po Street, Garibaldi Street and Pietro Micca Street. See more..

The Palazzo Reale of Torino has an incredible collection, covering antiquities such as ancient Greece and Rome statuary, Renaissance Christian and Classical painting,, and a remarkable ancient weaponry collection in the Armory maintained by Italian King Vittorio Emmanuele II. - A treasure not to be missed
Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM Spent 2-3 hours Art Galleries • Historic Sites • Architectural Buildings
    Palazzo Borromeo image
In 1670 Count Vitaliano Borromeo decided to turn a rock awash in the middle of the lake into a “place of delights”. It took four centuries to complete this magnificent work that includes Palazzo Borromeo and its scenic gardens. The tour of the house is fascinating: the Throne and Queens rooms, the Napoleon's Room, the Gallery of General Berthier displaying a collection of 130 paintings. On a lower floor, six grottoes covered with pebbles, tufa rock, stucco and marble were designed to afford cool relief from summer heat. World famous, its baroque garden, with the Teatro Massimo at the centre, consists of ten terraces in the shape of a truncated pyramid. Visitors marvel at the sight of the monumental unicorn, the obelisks, the statues, the two towers and other architectural elements, as well as the mighty trees, like the camphor and citrus trees, and the collections of roses, rhododendrons and camellias. 13. 4.5 Lake Orta (2.506 reviews)
    - "Island in the lake"
    Bodies of Water
    Lake Orta image
Lake Orta enchanted me by its otherworldly simplicity, isolation, winding path and that deep misty shade of blue that washed over the whole scene. It is less touristy than Como and has the added attraction of the island with a castle and monastery in the middle of the lake. Adjacent Orta San Giulio isalso a joy to explore as it has a timeless medieval ambience with narrow streets, arches, ancient structures and cobbles. See more..

    - Medieval Mirage
Monday: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Historic Sites • Religious Sites
    Sacra di San Michele image
This monument is a symbol of Piedmont Region and a place that inspired the writer Umberto Eco to conceive the best-seller “Il nome della rosa” ( The name of the rose ) , the Sacra of San Michele is an ancient abbey built between 983 and 987 on the top of mount Pirchiriano, 40 km from Turin. From it’s towers you can admire Turin and a breathtaking view of the Val di Susa. Inside the main Church of the Sacra, dating from the twelfth century, are buried members of House of Savoy (one of the oldest royal family in the world). Dedicated to the cult of the Archangel Michele, defender of the Christian people, the Sacra di San Michele fits inside a ruote of pilgrimage (long over 2000 km) wich runs from Saint-Michel ( France ) to Monte Sant’Angelo (Puglia). The history, the spiritual value and the landscape that sorrounds it trasform the Sacra in a special destination for visitors from all over the world. See more..
  16. 4.5 Piazza Vittorio Veneto (2.059 reviews)
    - Enchanting piazza on the banks of the River Po
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Piazza Vittorio Veneto image
I particularly wanted to see Piazza Vittorio in Torino and when I was recently in the city I was able to pay a visit. The piazza has commanding views of the River Po and was every bit as enchanting as I expected it to be. The piazza was named after the Battle of Vittorio Veneto of 1918. I visited shortly after Covid-19 lockdown restrictions were eased and the whole area was incredibly quiet and completely devoid of tourists. I was impressed with Piazza Vittorio Veneto, it is one of the many sights to be seen in the city. See more..

  18. 4.5 San Giulio Island (1.708 reviews)
    - oasis of peace
    Bodies of Water
    San Giulio Island image
If you visit Lake Orta,do visit San Giulio Island. The boat round trip from Piazza motta in Orta San Giulio takes a few minutes, costs 5 Euro and the small boats leave every 20 minutes or so. On the island , visit the Basilica di San Giulio - in a room adjoining the crypt you can read about the history of the place, which has housed a church since the 6th century. There is a small path around the island offering nice views - incidentally called 'a voie du silence'. If there are tour groups visiting at the same time, try to stay away from them, as they will spoil the serene impression of the place.... See more..
  19. 4.5 Santuario Basilica La Consolata (1.606 reviews)

    Religious Sites
    Santuario Basilica La Consolata image
If you are even slightly interested in baroque churches, you shouldn't miss this one. It's enormous and includes many rooms and chapels apart from the main part. You can see on a wall where people have left "thank you" messages for e.g. recovering from accidents or ilnesses. See more..
  20. 4.5 Real Chiesa di San Lorenzo (1.454 reviews)
    - Inconspicuous
    Monday: 7:30 AM - 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Religious Sites
Real Chiesa di San Lorenzo image
This was the first “home” of the Holy Shroud after its arrival from Chambéry. San Lorenzo has an extraordinary cupola (completed in 1680) designed by Guarino Guarini and exemplifies the baroque style. The Duke Emanuele Filiberto had the church dedicated to the Saint after the victory of the Battle of San Quintino. In piazza Castello. See more..
  21. 4.5 Armeria Reale (1.357 reviews)
    - Interesting collection
    Monday: History Museums
    Armeria Reale image
Whenever I'm in a museum, the armoury collection is normally the one I skip through quickly. Not this time around! The collection is beautifully presented; the room itself is grand, and has a mix of glass cabinets with weapons and armour on display in "the open". You can get a close look at the fine details on the saddles and the decoration on a knight's gloves. The information accompanying the pieces is often interesting too and gives some story and background rather than just generic details about the weapons. A must-see if in Turin! See more..
  22. 4.5 Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento (1.250 reviews)

  23. 4.5 La Bollente (1.220 reviews)
    - As warm as the people who live there
    Historic Sites
    La Bollente image
We visited this attraction often during our stay in Acqui Terme this past summer and found it to be un-touristy and very congenial. It is the sort of place one never forgets, because of its timeless unique existence. Beyond any old buildings, cathedrals, monuments....anything man has ever created, this water has gushed from the earth, with its warm steam and healthy attributes. How can one not respect that? We found the people there warm, friendly and helpful. Not your typical Tourist Trap at all. We love it :-) See more..
  24. 4.5 Grinzane Cavour Castle (1.204 reviews) from $8.65
    - Nice stop
Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Castles
    Grinzane Cavour Castle image
Grinzane Cavour Castle stands in one of the most spectacular settings in the Langa, just 5 km from Alba. The imposing building, erected around a central tower dating back to the first half of the XI century, can be admired in all its original beauty following the restoration that began in 1960, in celebration of the first centenary of the Unification of Italy. The Castle now houses the "Cavour" Regional Enoteca, the first to be set up in Piedmont in 1967. This is a prestigious showcase for the very best Piedmontese wines and grappas, foremost amongst them being Barolo and Barbaresco. The wines undergo a strict selection process before being displayed and placed on sale along with leading local food products. Tastings possible. See more..
  25. 4.5 Museo Pietro Micca e dell'assedio di Torino del 1706 (1.153 reviews)
    - A must-do experience, low cost and so brilliantly accomodating!
Monday: Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
Museo Pietro Micca e dell'assedio di Torino del 1706 image
Could not have asked for more! We saw that the guided tours were at specific times online, but didn't know we were meant to book. The staff was lovely and squeezed us into the upcoming tour. The tour was with an Italian guide, but the staff again were so accomodating and gave us audio guides (there were other languages other than English too). They made sure we were in the right place, at the right time. The staff continuously looked after us throughout the time we were there and made sure we had started the right sections of the audio guide at the right times. - there were also handy signs on the wall which linked to the point the Italian guide is at when he moved around. The underground tunnels was a fantastic experience. It was brilliant value for money and I'm so glad we did it! See more..

    Sacro Monte di Orta image
I visited in mid February in the morning. A stunning view from the mountain top and all the chapels providing wonderful information about the life of St Francis with charming, life size wooden sculptures. There was a parking place 100 metres from the church where you can park for free for 2 hours. But in tourist season, I hear from friends the place is a nightmare and your only option is to walk up the hill. See more..

    - Nice stay
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Centro Storico image
One day visit. Milan as compared to other Italian cities is very clean and full of interesting places to visit; it's very crowded and it's difficult to find an iconic place where to have lunch without spending a future. On the contrary, it's full of coffee shops or fasrt food places therefore mine is a simple opinion which doesn't affect my good opinion towards this very posh European city. See more..
