Obergurgl Hochgurgl Ski Area, Austrian Alps, Austria

Great snow, great lift system
The ski area is really excellent. Snow is almost guaranteed to be good because it is so high up, and the lift system is outstanding. It may be a tad small for a full week if you're a good skier, and the flipside of being so high up is that you're more exposed to wind and low-lying clouds, but you can't have it all I guess.

Lovely quiet town
The town of Obergurgl is fairly quiet, so if you’re after lots of lively night life, stay elsewhere. There are convenience stores, clothes and ski stores, hotel bars and a couple of small bars. There are pizza restaurants and cafes ranging from cheap and cheerful to up market. For skiing it is ideally nestled at the bade of the mountains and has lots of piste for all levels. During the summer months I would imagine that the stunning winter views are equally as stunning and perfect for walking or just relaxing. There are lots of different hotels ranging from chic to apart hotels, so something for everyone. There is a regular shuttle bus into the nearby towns which are free to use with your lift pass, however no one checked to see if we had one anyway

Beautiful mountains and well run ski resort
Exceptionally well run ski resort with numerous fast lifts and a free bus service operating between Obergurgl and Hochgurgl which provided a variety of runs. We found it not crowded and with great skiing conditions. Obergurgl is a small and pretty town with character. Definitely worth a visit!
