Nassfeld Ski Resort, Austrian Alps, Austria

4.5 (385 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #1 in Carinthia Ski & Snowboard Areas

Great find!

We were staying in Kranjska Gora where snow conditions were poor. A 50 minute drive across the border to Austria and we found Nassfeld. Fabulous snow conditions, fast efficient lift system. Once you head up the millennium express gondola the area opens out to a whole new area which borders Italy. Well maintained pistes, seems very snow sure, as there were lots of snow cannons. Mostly north facing slopes, with a wide choice of runs, easy to navigate. Mainly red runs, some blue and looked some good off piste opportunities. Ideal for a family stay, with opportunities for different levels of skiers to meet up. Cosy traditional mountain restaurants with a mix of Austrian and Italian food. All this within and easy drive of Ljubljana or Klagenfurt airport. Just don’t tell everyone!

    Nice sunny huge ski area
Huge area with slopes for every level of knowledge, 28 lifts, well maintained snow. Astonishing view, highest number of sunny hours in Austria. My favourite place after 30 years skiing...

    Everything a skier could want
Nassfeld offers a massive range of slopes from the loveliest of relaxing blue to a mental black. There are lifts located all across the resort to transport you between the various slopes and apart from the morning scrum to get the first lift of the day, queue times were virtually zero. Frequent busses run from the car park to the resort entrance, again, hardly any queuing. It cost around €250 for 3 adults and 4 kids for the day which seemed about right for the sheer range of skiing available.
