   Divine Providence did not preserve this Cathedral of the XII-XIV centuries. After surviving the middle ages, the Cathedral was severely damaged by the explosion of the steamship Cabo Machichaco on the roadstead. in 1893. There was enough dynamite to reach the Cathedral. Oddly enough, the Cathedral survived the civil war of 1936-1939, although Santander was stubbornly defended by the Republicans. However, 2 years later, Santander burned down in a fire in 1941. The restored Cathedral has an unusual structure. It consists of two churches and a cloister monastery. The lower Church, also called the Crypt earlier -XII century. The upper one was built in the 13th century in the Gothic style, as was the lower Church of Christ. A fire in 1941 destroyed most of the decor, except for the walls and columns. I liked the cloister best. It is very cozy. You can't visit the Cathedral for free. Only for 1 Euro. See more..

Next, there's some exhibits, including stuffed animals, with most explanations in english; and finally there's live otters and fish. They feed them several times a day and it's worth watching.     Teníamos muchas ganas de conocerla y hemos salido encantados. La cueva geológicamente es una maravilla, guarda tesoros muy interesantes como las marcas de los osos de las cavernas, las oseras, las réplicas de sus huesos y de las pinturas de la cueva de Salitre. La guía, Alicia es un verdadero encanto, te explica los secretos de su cueva con mucho detalle y sobre todo amabilidad, ella es técnico en turismo así lo hace saber no licenciada en historia aunque se defiende bastante bien, hace una visita muy amena y lo explica todo muy natural. La visita se hace muy corta deja con ganas de más, además nos aconsejo sobre la zona. Si estáis en Miera hay que acercarse a la cueva de Sopeña.     Desde la lejanía llama la atención por su color rojo, sus bellas torres y esbelta silueta. Tuvimos la gran suerte de que nos la explicase la voluntaria que la mantiene abierta.(Una señora que es un verdadero encanto, nos vió en la puerta y muy amable nos dijo que si no la conocíamos entrasemos a verla por dentro que desde la entrada no se veía bien). El edificio es Neogótico de influencia francesa, obra del arquitecto Emilio de la Torriente fue construida a finales del S XIX. Tiene unas hermosas vidrieras y un bonito coro, todo el mobiliario, imagenes y retablos igualmente Neogóticos, conservan una talla de San Roque y los restos del antiguo retablo de la iglesia vieja. Un verdadero placer conocer la iglesia de San Pedro, su historia y charlar con la amable señora que la custodia.     I walked to the far end of the promenade, noticed the statue on the hill next to the large block of flats and decided to climb the hundred or so steps to have a look. There’s a road behind the statue and I walked along to the right towards the headland and came across the fort at the end of the road. It looks run down and derelict but inside I was surprised at just how well built and large an expanse it is - guess a lot of militia were kept busy here back in the day! At the far end you can look out through the portals over the Bay of Biscay. You can also climb on top for a walk round and look over the estuary towards Laredo. There’s another structure to the left a bit higher up but I didn’t have time to explore it. The fort is worth the effort of a visit if you’re in the area. See more..

    There are two beaches in Castro Urdiales and this is the smaller, located at the far end near Parque Cotolino on the headland beyond. Half way along the beach is the derelict Hotel Miramar standing empty, vandalised and rather an eyesore but the beach itself consists of smooth sand and no doubt a busy spot in the summer months (it was empty early March). It’s worth carrying on to the small park on the other side of the river estuary where you get a good view back towards the old town and harbour area. The concrete breakwater at the town end (Muelle de Don Luis) makes for a pleasant stroll, although it’s not what you might call attractive. See more..

    Se encuentra situada en Puente Viesgo, cerca de Aes. Pasando el puente sobre el Pas, desde la carretera general del Escudo, a la altura de Aes (Barrio Corrobárceno).
    Cuenta con un gran aparcamiento, aunque la entrada es estrecha. El área es muy grande, tiene 15 mesas, 4 barbacoas, 2 fuentes, parque infantil, cancha deportiva.
    Justo al lado tiene una zona cubierta, con dos alturas.
    Situada junto al río Pas, el lugar es una preciosidad.
    Desde el mismo área se pueden realizar paseos a pie o en bicicleta por una pequeña red de vías verdes y caminos (antigua vía de ferrocarril transformada en vía verde)

    Que dire de cette école de surf.. Juste un paradis caché. Gabi, Ana et les professeurs nous accueillent comme leur propre famille. Les cours de surf se font sur la plage de Galizano ou bien Langre, en fonction des conditions. Débuter ou bien se perfectionner, Gabi et son équipe partage un savoir hors norme, je pense avoir + progressé avec eux en 2 semaines qu'en 1 an à Bali.. Surf, vidéos, skatepark (carver), tout pour se rendre compte de nos défauts et les corriger. Après l'effort le réconfort, Ana cuisine merveilleusement bien et avec amour, cuisine authentique.     Sitio espectacular. Se sale desde el área recreativa de Braña Castrillo, después de Bárcenas. Seguir toda la pista rural. Se pasan 6 puentes. Cuando se está a punto de andar el octavo kilómetro y, a unos 50 metros antes de llegar al séptimo puente, se debe bajar a la izquierda y cruzar el río por unas piedras que lo facilitan. Veremos un sendero perpendicular al río, poco marcado, que sube un poco para después bajar hacia la izquierda. Si lo seguimos, en unos pocos metros, nos encontramos con las cascadas. See more..

    La Casona de los Cantolla, uno de los linajes más antiguos de Liérganes, se levantó en estilo barroco en el S.XVIII, la fachada de silleria, sobria e imponente a la vez, fue concebida para destacar dentro del conjunto urbano.
