    This building was the former town hall of Comillas, preceding the one now located in Calle Joaquín del Piélago, Originally the Romanesque Church of St. John, only the entrance retains any vestige of the church. The building has a cute arcade with Romanesque arches, below a Cantabrian style balcony and the five heraldic shields of previous Archbishops of Comillas. See more..

    As others have mentioned, this building was once a free school back in the days when schooling wasn’t free. It’s now the working offices of the Comillas town hall. A fairly typical example of Cantabrian architecture. It has a charming Romanesque arcade on the lower level and a wooden balcony on the upper level of the type very common to the town and province. The Comillas Tourist office is just around the corner from the arcade. See more..
