  1. 4.0 Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabarceno (5.006 reviews)
    - Brilliant nature
Thursday: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Zoos • Parks
Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabarceno image
Breathtaking natureressort with stunning views. Nearly all the shown animals are endangered and have a big area to move around. Especially the bears have a huge area with walkways in the mountains. All animals looked healthy to me, with nice, shiny fur and without running head down from one corner of their cage to another....... if captivity is neccessary, then it should be like this. The Restaurant in the park offers a menue, which is not worth it. Rather grap a quick snack or bring your own (tables available all over the park). Restrooms all over the park were very clean. 2. 4.5 Peninsula of Magdalena (3.825 reviews)
    - Large Park & Walking Area
    National Parks
    Peninsula of Magdalena image
This 28 hectare of woodlands and gardens is a popular recreational destination for both tourists and locals. As you can imagine, the grounds are extensive, although sticking to just the walking path would probably be a 2 hour event, but equally you could spend all day walking the paths, enjoy the beaches and admire the former royal palace. For those who find walking too old school, there’s even a tourist train. Probably the best place to see in Santander. The park also contains several statues honouring natives of Santander and Cantabria. Worth a visit if you have more than a few days in the city. See more..
  3. 4.5 Centro de Arte Faro Cabo Mayor (705 reviews)
    - Lighthouse and Arts Centre
Lighthouses • Parks • Geologic Formations
Centro de Arte Faro Cabo Mayor image
This arts centre is still a functioning lighthouse guiding ships over the entrance to the Bay of Santander. The lighthouse has been here since 1839 and after the lighthouse operations were automated, the formerly living areas were converted into an arts centre where there’s plenty of nautical themed exhibits. Even from outside of the lighthouse, the views of the bay are awesome. Worth visiting when in Santander. See more..

  5. 4.5 Parque de las Llamas (148 reviews)
    - A great place to walk, do sports and relax...!
    Parks
    Parque de las Llamas image
Ever since I live in the city, Las Llamas Park has been one of those places I usually go when I want to walk or roller-skate, or simply relax on a terrace over a beer or to have an ice-cream from the truck. From the architectural point of view, it's a great urban park, designed as a natural reservoir for an interesting variety of birds, mainly ducks, nesting in the swamp-like enviroment. Kids love to go feed them. It holds a nice venue, Escenario Santander, where there is a "vintage" flee market the first or second sunday every month, as well as concerts thruout the year, especially during the summer. There is a playground at one of the ends of the park that's really neat. Also, since it's just next to the Universidad de Cantabria, you might even get some free Wi-Fi from the University in the area, but keep it hush-hush..! All in all, a great place to visit and spend some time in under almost any weather condition. See more..

  7. 4.0 Cabuerniaventura (63 reviews)
    - A wasted day
    Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
    Cabuerniaventura image
We were recommended to visit this adventure playground by our hotel who rang ahead to ensure it was open and catered for seven year olds. We drove there were welcomed and asked if we would like some lunch before we started the activities. 10 minutes later the young lady came back and advised us that the park was closed and that we couldn't use it. My 7 year old was distraught, understandably, and we then had to drive all the way back to Santander. We were invited to "come again tomorrow" but we won't be wasting our time. They are totally disorganised and if they can't work out whether they are open or closed how are they ever going to ensure your kids are safe in a the activities. FORGET THIS PLACE See more..
  8. 4.5 Parque natural de las Marismas de Santona (61 reviews)
    - Large expanse of wetland
Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks
Parque natural de las Marismas de Santona image
The wetlands extend over a large area especially at low tide when the expanse of mud flats are exposed. There’s plenty of birdlife and I also noticed a couple of public viewing hides on the road into Santona - The road actually crosses the marshes for quite a distance. There’s a number of paths and trails which you can take and it’s enjoyable walking along seeing what you can spot. There’s an interpretive centre at the estuary end of the port area but unfortunately it was closed when I visited early March. See more..

Amazing zipline, one 1000 mts and the other is 600 mts. Both father and daughter, Paco and Otilia work together, making this a super special ocasión. We were all together, sabe my father, 9 of us in total, even my father´s wife. Safety first always. Super friendly and serviceable. First class instalations regarding the zipline. Will do again definitely. Wences family in Potes is a very well known name, in fact, we just had lunch and the family hotel and then went to the zipline, to find it was the same family! great all around. See more..

  13. 4.5 Parque Cotolino (12 reviews)
    - Small but pleasant
    Parks
    Parque Cotolino image
This small park is located on the headland beyond Playa de Bazomar. It’s a pleasant stroll along the seafront promenade and over the estuary inlet to reach it. You can see it clearly from the harbour area and it actually looks larger than in reality. However, when you get there you’ll often find it busy with locals using the fixed exercise machines or just out walking with family. The park is well maintained and kept tidy plus you get a great view back towards the old town area. There’s a barrier at the top end with views over the very small cove of Playa Arcisero and further along the coast. See more..

See more..
