4.0Museo de Altamira(2.632 reviews) - Excellent Museum Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
This is a fantastic museum with exhibitions on the Cave of Altamira and Paleolithic Cave Art of Northern Spain. The museum also covers human evolution, stone age societies as well as the scientific study of prehistory. There’s English as well as Spanish labels and descriptions, but not for every exhibit. Anything really important will have both though. The finest exhibition in the museum is the replica cave and cave art, which sadly can no longer be visited for conservation reasons. The curators have done a superb job of recreating the sealed off caves. Totally worth the entrance fee.See more..
4.0Museo de la Tortura(884 reviews) - A gruesome but interesting visit Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Speciality Museums
We went in on the off chance and were pleasantly surprised. The items were gruesome but well explained. It was reasonable at 4 euros. I would recommend this museumSee more..
This was a great visit. There were very few people visiting so the venue felt very safe. Clear instructions from the staff on which areas to visit and in which order. The upstairs was a wonderful journey of the history and very educational. The aquarium was brilliant, as there was a member staff in the tank itself feeding the fish which we captured on video. A really pleasant trip and great value at 8 euros for an adult.See more..

This is a great museum in Santander. It took me a while to find it because it is located in a hidden street. I highly recommend the guided visit. The guy that showed us the museum was very knowledgeable about the Prehistoric period and the different artifacts. The visit started at 5.15 p.m. and lasted two hours. See more..

This was a pleasant surprise, which exceeded our expectations. Firstly, there's a film on the local wildlife and traditional culture, with english subtitles. Next, there's some exhibits, including stuffed animals, with most explanations in english; and finally there's live otters and fish. They feed them several times a day and it's worth watching. It's cheap and entertaining and seniors and children get entry at discounted rates.See more..

Great experience for adults and children alike. Doesn't feel like a museum but rather like going back in time 200 years, enter a country side house and seeing how everything is. Guidance is great, dedicated knowledgeable and patient. Highly recommended! See more..

4.0Palacio de Elsedo(23 reviews) - What a fantastic find Speciality Museums
We found this contemporary art museum quite by accident whilst driving round back lanes near Lierganes. It is absolutely stunning, we were gobsmacked that it could exist there! It is signposted from the main N634 road with a little white sign, and is next to the village of Pamanes. The buildling is a 18th Century palace, and is spectacular, you see a lot of buildings like this around Cantabria, and it is a treat to be able to go inside one and its grounds! The art is a range of contemporary Spanish art, a private collection now for public viewing. It is large, there are 10 different rooms tastefully decorated with paintings and some beautiful walnut furniture, 2 small sculpture gardens, and the chapel, which has some interesting religious art collected from around Spain. The guide was fantastically helpful, obviously really interested in what she does and very knowledgeable. She explained the chapel and the general history of the building to us before sending us off to investigate the rooms alone, which was great, being able to just nosy around. There was a free leaflet available which had the main paintings, history of the building etc. in Spanish and English. The entrance was 6Euros, very reasonable we thought, and it took us around an hour to go around slowly and enjoying the views over the land. We would seriously recommend this place, even if you're not so interested in the art, the buildling and grounds alone merit a visit. We will definately be going back and taking our visitors there! One thing to watch out for are the opening hours, it said that it was closed in winter, although we had no problem in late October.See more..
Muy interesante, pero necesita una actualización de la información y de la organización. Aún así tiene un material fantástico.See more..

See more..

Precio 2€. El personal profesional pero poco cercano. No es lo que esperas ver en Santillana pero creo que merece mucho la visita See more..
