A Bizantium church of historic significance. this building was brought to life for us by the excellent English guide who explained the frescoes and tombs. Don't miss the painting of the pregnant Virgin Mary, one of only three such pictures, and the depiction of Jesus after crucifixion, shown naked, which again is most unusual. Theres a tomb of the prince with a black face, who was buried here but the gold buckle of his belt has been removed to the museum of history in Bucharest, which we saw in the gold and jewellery room.See more..

The Bucegi Plateau is accessible either by cable car from Busteni (which can be extremely busy sometimes and quite expensive) or by car from Sinaia through the spectacular DJ713 road, named Transbucegi, close to Piatra Arsa Chalet). Either the way you choose to climb at the altitude of 2216 meters, the plateau offers extraordinary views and thing to see, including the Sphinx and the Babele and the Caraiman Cross. Conacul acesta a fost o adevarata surpriza. Ghidul este foare profesionist si pasionat si ne-a introdus in atmosfera epocii, oferindu-ne informatii interesante. Merita cu siguranta drumul de o ora cu masina din Bucuresti. This is a true hidden gem. The building architecture is beautiful and inside you will find a great collection of art, paintings and original furniture. A fantastic little museum of local artisanal crafts, clothing and artwork. We were given a personal tour by a volunteer who was brought in ad hoc as he spoke English. Not the castles, but the hike ending with this view is the highlight of Sinaia. The walk up there (1-1,5 hours in snow when nature starts with the blue line) is very beautiful with great nature. The view point itself is very stunning. The view is amazing seeing the higher Bucegi mountains and Sinaia town. I was there all by myself and on the walk I saw 3 people so it is very private and remote. It is a must-do in Sinaia.See more..

5.0Jilava Fort 13(4 reviews) - An emotional attraction Military Museums
The Jilava Fort 13's initially purpose was to defend the city of Bucharest, but after 1907 it was used as a prison (one of the worst in Romania). The conditions here were comparable to those of a concentration camp. The rooms here tell very traumatic and sad stories about prisoners who were deprived from food, rest and dignity. To get here is kind of complicated because the Fort is located inside the Jilava Prison so you normally need to call there to announce your visit. But there is a simplier method to visit, to get in touch with the FORTUL 13 JILAVA facebook page, who arrange guided trips at the Fort.See more..

A short climb to the top of the rock, followed by a great view of the village and surrounding area and over the hills. We stayed for around an hour at the monastery; enjoyed the view and saw the church built into the rock. The paintings are hard to make out now, but you can imagine how nice it must have looked. The structure is very impressive. We were also able to see the blue traditional house next door and bought some home-knitted socks. The old paintings are in need of restauration due to the humidity and is truly spectacular place to visit as you have a bit of everything in one location. More tourists in general should know about this beautiful location and it's historical significance in Romani.See more..

The Church of the Assumption - Potters, dated before 1687, represents an original combination of models with local innovations: a rectangular plan, similar to some Moldavian churches, finished in polygonal apses. It has a polygonal narthex, covered with a perforated vault of cylindrical telescopes, while above the nave there is a dome in a broken section. The exterior frescoes were made by a local craftsman in 1869.
