A beautiful experience

A short climb to the top of the rock, followed by a great view of the village and surrounding area and over the hills. We stayed for around an hour at the monastery; enjoyed the view and saw the church built into the rock. The paintings are hard to make out now, but you can imagine how nice it must have looked. The structure is very impressive. We were also able to see the blue traditional house next door and bought some home-knitted socks. The old paintings are in need of restauration due to the humidity and is truly spectacular place to visit as you have a bit of everything in one location. More tourists in general should know about this beautiful location and it's historical significance in Romani.

A nice, quiet and mysterious place
My experience there was great. There were no other visitors, and I arrived by the sunset time. You can go up on the main rock through some side stairs for a better view of the village that is cute and quiet. There's no need to spend a long time there, but I found it pleasant to stay for some time enjoying the peaceful and silent atmosphere. The Ravenclaw Monastery (Mănăstirea Corbii de Piatră) is one of the many magical and mysterious places in Romania. Its existance was first documented in 1512. Some consider that the site, carved into a 30m high x 14.5m wide seawall, has something of the 10th century Byzantine style. Others suggest that because its entrance is camouflaged, a hatch less than 1m high, that the temple can be dated to around the 2nd century, time when Christians were persecuted. There are also historians who believe that the place is even older, and may even be a point of worship of the Dacians, the original people who occupied that region, dedicated to their god Zalmoxis.
