A Bizantium church of historic significance. this building was brought to life for us by the excellent English guide who explained the frescoes and tombs. Don't miss the painting of the pregnant Virgin Mary, one of only three such pictures, and the depiction of Jesus after crucifixion, shown naked, which again is most unusual. Theres a tomb of the prince with a black face, who was buried here but the gold buckle of his belt has been removed to the museum of history in Bucharest, which we saw in the gold and jewellery room.See more..

The Royal Archbishopric Cathedral from Argeș is the place chosen by the kings of Romania to rest here on the country's land. The new Royal necropolis is located in the courtyard of this complex which includes the Curtea de Arges monastery built between 1515-'17 by Neagoe Basarab, the Episcopal palace and the Royal Cathedral for the entire necropolis of the members of the Royal House of Romania. Confieso que estaba impaciente por conocer esta iglesia singular, inaugurada en 2015. Y he tenido la suerte de visitarla ahora (septiembre 2018) y de pasar una jornada en ese lugar con un grupo de amigos. Es un monasterio carmelita para el siglo XXI, que imita en parte las construcciones de los monasterios ortodoxos famosos en todo el mundo y una iglesia construida por dentro en madera laminar. Si visitan Snagov, no dejen de pasar a visitar esta maravilla.See more..

A short climb to the top of the rock, followed by a great view of the village and surrounding area and over the hills. We stayed for around an hour at the monastery; enjoyed the view and saw the church built into the rock. The paintings are hard to make out now, but you can imagine how nice it must have looked. The structure is very impressive. We were also able to see the blue traditional house next door and bought some home-knitted socks. The old paintings are in need of restauration due to the humidity and is truly spectacular place to visit as you have a bit of everything in one location. More tourists in general should know about this beautiful location and it's historical significance in Romani.See more..

The Church of the Assumption - Potters, dated before 1687, represents an original combination of models with local innovations: a rectangular plan, similar to some Moldavian churches, finished in polygonal apses. It has a polygonal narthex, covered with a perforated vault of cylindrical telescopes, while above the nave there is a dome in a broken section. The exterior frescoes were made by a local craftsman in 1869. The beauty of the Potters church, the uniqueness of the paintings and the mystery that floats around it are serious reasons to make you curious and to reserve from your time, tourists, the admiration of this small church.See more..

The new Metropolitan Cathedral of Targoviste - why new? well if you go and see for yourself the ruins of the old are to be found in front of the this building .. indeed in the 1881 the old Metropolitan church/cathedral was demolished and the works at the new one begun - it was finished in 1933 . Why the demolishing - well originally the first Metropolitan complex was erected somewhere around 1515-1530, centuries and conflicts passed over it till 1835 when an earthquake has done consistent damage to it , repair and consolidation works were carried out, for better and worst , but after the evaluation in 1870's final decision was to demolish and rebuild. So today the Cathedral is to be found in the Metropolitan park and as you would stroll there you can stop for a few pics - like I did. Mind the service hours and maintain silence during service ... visiting is free of charge - but as always donations are welcome.See more..
