    - This is Not a Pipe
Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Art Museums
Musee Magritte Museum - Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium image
This is a museum inside a building that holds several. They're all worth visiting but I wouldn't do more than two on the same day. Can be quite overwhelming. The Magritte Museum is an obvious go-to if you want to see the works and works that led to works, the life history, etc. Personally if I had time for only one Magritte Museum I'd recommend visiting his home only a short tram ride from the centre away. But if you have time, both are rewarding in their way. I mean, if you like art and you're in Brussels, this is the man to immerse yourself in. See more..

My husband and I did our own walking tour of the city and we enjoyed walking through the gardens to the Palace even though it was winter. We came around the perfect time to take pictures of the Palace. We came just around sunset and were able to get a beautiful colored sky and not a lot of traffic passing by for some good pictures. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see the inside, hopefully, next time. Worth a stop while you are in Brussels. See more..

    - An impressive building on Koekelberg Hill
Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
National Basilica of the Sacred Heart image
The Koekelberg Basilica ranks fifth among the world's largest churches, after the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Paix in Yamoussokro on the Ivory Coast, St Peter's in Rome, St Paul's in London and Santa Maria Dei Fiori in Florence. Today, the church is in the first place a place of prayer for peace. The church is still used for celebrations of the parish or for big national celebrations. But the basilica is more than that. The basilica has also an important cultural function. It’s a magnificent Art Deco monument, there are two museums, there are yearly different expositions and you can enjoy a wonderful view over Brussels! See more..
  27. 4.5 Mont des Arts (830 reviews)
    - Wonderful park near city center
Spent More than 3 hours Historic Walking Areas
    Mont des Arts image
A beautiful park with good views. It’s a mixture of very well kept and in need of some work. It can be very quiet depending on the day but tends to be very busy on sunny weekend days. Also there were several events in the park the month we were here so there could be a lot of activity on those days too. The view from the top of the steps is very nice. It’s close to the center so a good little walk to stop by and see. See more..

  29. 4.5 Sonian Forest (473 reviews)
    - Go – and get lost!
    Forests
    Sonian Forest image
While walking through the Sonian Forest, I couldn't believe I was just a couple of kilometres away from the busy, bustling inner city of Brussels. Somewhere I must've walked through a portal to a very different place! I reached the forest by taking tram 44 from the Montgomery tram stop, itself reachable by many trams and buses. Once it reached its final stop, it was easiest to get to the forest by walking through the Tervuren Park. Like many other Unesco world heritage sites – especially ones that are free to visit, like this one – it really is hard to summarise the breadth of the experience succinctly. All I'm going to say: Go – and get lost! And when you leave: Return, return, return. It's nature lovers' heaven, really. See more..

    Parc Josaphat image
Officially one of my favourite places in Brussels – and part of me doesn't want to tell anyone about it; I want it all to myself! ;) I've visited Parc Josaphat in summer, autumn, winter and spring, and it's truly a magical gem that both young and old will enjoy – come rain or shine. If you're looking for a peaceful place to stroll, or you'd like a spot to read a book on your back, Parc Josaphat really is the place to go. Tip: It's easily accessible via public transport. Belgian Chocolate Village image
This was a rather interesting museum. Not a whole lot to see, but a good way to spend an hour. The staff are lovely and friendly. The chocolatier was just amazing. He answered all our questions and gave us quite a few free tasters. The shop is cute with a good choice of chocolate options from around the world. However, the cafe was pretty lackluster. I would recommend it, and the chocolates were truly delicious! See more..
  36. 4.5 Rouge Cloitre Park (128 reviews)
    - History combined with nature
    Parks
    Rouge Cloitre Park image
The remains of a monastery, together with the woods and ponds make for a lovely park. I’ve visited it twice, once in spring and again in August. You can make some nice walks along the ponds, and if you want to, continue to the Soignes Forest. The park is well maintained, the old buildings have been restored over the years and got a new destination, like an exhibition space, art shops and a tavern (I’m not 100% sure, but I think only open in the weekend). There is also a play area for the kids where a pirate ship is the big attraction. Draft horses, a donkey, chicken and ducks can also be seen. As the park is located at the outskirts of Brussels, you can get there easily by public transport. Metro line 5 and tram 94 stop at Herrmann-Debroux, about 200 meters from the entrance to the park. Several busses also stop in the neighbourhood. See more..
  37. 4.5 Leonidas Cora Woluwe (127 reviews)
    - Gotta love this place
    Tuesday: 9:00 AM - 8:00 AM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
    Leonidas Cora Woluwe image
You just gotta love every chocolate shop in Brussels! This is also one of the unique ones, writing it's own story. All the goodies are simply delicious. And not to neglect- from all the "hot coutur chocolate shops" they have the most reasonable prices. So if planning to buy loads of sweet presents- this is the place for you! And no, they don not lose on the quallity on account of the lower price. See more..
  38. 4.0 Place du Châtelain (107 reviews)
    - Hyped by real estate agents
Tuesday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Place du Châtelain image
If all the surface car parks with some trees were listed on TripAdvisor there would be a tremendous number of such listings. Why Place du Châtelain, with its parked SUVs and other vehicles that should be banned from city centres, should deserve an exception is a mystery to us. There is nothing to see, really. The architecture isn’t interesting and there are few shops, restaurants or cafés on the square itself. Most are to be found in the adjoining streets where there are some pleasant spots like Lulu Home. The very expensive food market on Wednesday (2 p.m. to 7 p.m.) seems to attract a lot of well-to-do French expats. Locals stay away. See more..
  39. 4.0 Eglise Saint Gilles (74 reviews)

  41. 4.5 Musee Constantin Meunier (50 reviews)
    - At last, a living museum, thanks to his guard !
    Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM Art Museums
    Musee Constantin Meunier image
Meunier museum is too small to show the big collection of works of the Belgian artist famous for his monumental bronze sculptures, whose some are exhibited in the former Meunier's workshop, at the bottom of the museum. Figures of the heroic labour of the industrial revolution, tribute to the popular classes of the late nineteenth century ... with something sensual inherited from Rodin ... This worths already a four on Tripadvisor. The last star is given to the fantastic museum guard. Richard Boterman (Butterman in English) learnt the Meunier's life and explains it with great verve, making this place a living world, joyful, filled with something very Belgian. Most of museums are places of solitude, where the guards are unfriendly (aaah, the Bozar!), Mr. Boterman makes this museum an oasis in Brussels. And moreover, it's free ! See more..
  42. 4.0 Stoclet House (45 reviews)
    - Visiting the Palais
    Historic Sites
    Stoclet House image
Having had the pleasure to have been invited to the Palais in the 1990s whilst Baroness Stoclet was living in this fantastic home, it is truly a unique home inside and out. With its Klimt friezes decorating the dining hall and its coral wood floored auditorium, just a couple of Inclusions of this ”Wiener Werkstatte” filled home. I recall the Baroness’ amusing comment at the time whispering to me that she was but the curator of this fascinating home. And whilst it is disappointing to most that the home is not open to the public, maybe that is a major factor why it has maintained its mystic and condition. Fascinating home and fascinating family! Eglise de la Sainte Croix image
The Church of the Holy Cross (‘Eglise Sainte-Croix’ and not ‘Eglise de la Sainte Croix’ as listed on Tripadvisor) occupies a lovely spot next to the ponds of Ixelles. An unstable terrain to build on! Its present-day exterior is the result of the transformation of the original mid-nineteenth century Gothic Revival church in the 1940s. When cracks started to appear in the walls architect Paul Rome encased the building in a brick and concrete Art Deco shell. Inside, the church is all pointed neo-Gothic vaults and arches but we spotted several marble and wood Art Nouveau confessionals and a marble Art Nouveau vestibule at the entrance towards rue Alphonse De Witte. Worth a quick look around. See more..
