Rows of Baroque guild houses at Grand Place

Grand Place in Lower Town of Brussels is probably one of the most beautiful squares in Europe. It is lined with delightful buildings including a fair number of guild houses built in the late 17th-century after the French Bombardment. They are heavily ornamented, ornate gilded facades that are delightful to look at while visiting the Grand Place. Give time to look over each and you will begin to see unique sculptures, symbols and the trade and industry represented by the respective guilds.

    Beautiful Buildings
Located in the Grand Place the Guild Buildings hark back to the past when alot of trade would have been done in this area. Nowadays it is a huge tourist location and the buildings have been kept in good condition with gold edging on some of them. I would suggest visiting the area at night when it is much quieter and you can get some lovely pix of the buildings glistening in the light.

    The Main Feature
We returned to this splendid square many times day and night. At night it was especially spectacular with the lights on the classic buildings. Really gorgeous architecture. Lots of bars and restaurants all around.
