Parc Josaphat, Brussels, Belgium
4.5 (201 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Schaerbeek Parks
Underrated gem!
Officially one of my favourite places in Brussels – and part of me doesn't want to tell anyone about it; I want it all to myself! ;) I've visited Parc Josaphat in summer, autumn, winter and spring, and it's truly a magical gem that both young and old will enjoy – come rain or shine. If you're looking for a peaceful place to stroll, or you'd like a spot to read a book on your back, Parc Josaphat really is the place to go. Tip: It's easily accessible via public transport. Bus 65 and 66, as well as tram 7 all run along it.

The park to be
In spite of the mayor and his city council that maintain status quo in Schaarbeek, this park has been reclaimed by the citizens and became the park to be. Now the city organises and sponsors lots of activities for young and old. This is the beating heart of Schaarbeek close to nice avenues and historic buildings.

Relaxing park with lots for children
This park is a bit off the beaten track so not crowded with plenty of space to walk, run or relax. At one end of the park is a sports stadium with a dog play area and a children’s playground next to it. The playground would be specially good for young children and includes fountains for water play on a hot day. At the other end of the park is another playground and in between are pools with fish in them, ducks and concrete paths for scooters or children’s bikes. At the top end there is also a small farm with a donkey and chickens. It was not open when we were there but you could look at the animals through the wire fence. A very enjoyable outing for families on a sunny day.
