Horta Museum (Musee Horta), Brussels, Belgium

4.5 (1.662 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #29 in Brussels Speciality Museums

A true masterpiece.

This is not a museum in the traditional sense: the museum itself is actually the house that Victor Horta built for himself in the late 1890s, which truly exemplifies the Art Nouveau style that made Horta into one of the most acclaimed architects in Belgium.

    A true masterpiece.
Wonderful art nouveau home a must see if you like that period. Absolutely magical. Yes you can’t take photos I am sure this ultimately is a positive both for the museum, which ensures people go to visit it helping raise money for the upkeep, and for the visitors who take it all in without take a picture every 5 seconds. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and saw it as a 2 hour digital detox too. So a win win.

Stunning , do not miss this
This was a minor bucket list item for me and did not disappoint. This art nouveau house is utterly gorgeous and it is easy to imagine the family living and working here. Everywhere you turn are elegant touches, even the door and window handles. I would have loved to go in the garden but appreciate that too many people would probably spoil it.
