History combined with nature
The remains of a monastery, together with the woods and ponds make for a lovely park. I’ve visited it twice, once in spring and again in August. You can make some nice walks along the ponds, and if you want to, continue to the Soignes Forest. The park is well maintained, the old buildings have been restored over the years and got a new destination, like an exhibition space, art shops and a tavern (I’m not 100% sure, but I think only open in the weekend). There is also a play area for the kids where a pirate ship is the big attraction. Draft horses, a donkey, chicken and ducks can also be seen. As the park is located at the outskirts of Brussels, you can get there easily by public transport. Metro line 5 and tram 94 stop at Herrmann-Debroux, about 200 meters from the entrance to the park. Several busses also stop in the neighbourhood.

Very nice and calm place to visit. An old buildind and a peaceful lake in the nature near the forest

Lovely park for lazy sunday afternoon
If you have time to get out of the city of Brussels a stroll in this Red Cloister park is a great escape. It is a Natura 2000 site, and has some rare bird species. It also has a play ground for kids. When we visited they were renovating the buildings and the café was unfortunately closed. But it was still a nice walk.
