Rene Magritte Museum - Abstract Art Museum, Brussels, Belgium

Fantastic - really must see the works of this great Belgium artist

The René Magritte Museum occupies the house in which the Belgian surrealist painter worked nearly 24 years of his life. Beside the apartment where the painter lived, a biographical exhibition is spread on the two upper floors. Since 2019, a new wing presents a selection of 200 works of Belgian abstract Art. Don't get this museum mixed up with the Magritte Museum (collection of paintings), which is a wing of the Fine Arts Museum (City center).

A beautiful journey through the works (and mind) of the artist. Recommended not only for enthusiasts
This museum tells the story of the artist's life both through his works and through several illustrative panels. There is also an audio guide that can be purchased separately, very complete. Some of the works ,to which the artist did not even give a title (which his friends did in his place),are still striking today for their expressive power

A rare and rewarding opportunity not to be missed!
This is a must-see if visiting Brussels and appreciate art. To be in the home of an artist like Magritte is a privilege. The art, ephemera and artefacts are plentiful and rewarding. The building is a resonant museum to the man and his life and work. The museum of abstract art attached to it and part of your visit will also not disappoint. It was without doubt the highlight of my visit to Brussels. It's only a short tram ride away from the centre and so easy to get to and find. You won't regret it.
