Nice and quite city
Nicknamed "Brussel's Oldest Citizen," this bronze statue of a little boy and a fountain was designed by Jerome Duquesnoy in 1619, and has become a familiar (and irreverent) symbol of the city.

Interesting and odd
What trip to Brussels would be complete without a quick visit to this odd little statue? As one of our local acquaintances noted, it’s possibly one of the most disappointing sights in the world. Well maybe not disappointing. It’s very small, only about two feet tall so not that imposing. The design is very basic. And the boy is peeing. On any given day, there are huge crowds around this little guy. We passed by several times on our way back and forth over the month and saw him in the buff and in several different costumes. So many costumes. They even have a schedule for the costumes posted outside the fence around him. There’s also a museum up the street where you can learn a little more about this guy and see many of his outfits. What is the most fun is how the humorous Belgians (I mean these people invented Tin Tin and the Smurfs) have embraced the story and lore around this little peeing kid. They have taken him under their wing as one of their own and play into all the hype from the tourists. OK, so not disappointing but it's nothing really exciting either - just a quirky little statue. Stop by and watch the boy pee if you like.

Nice and quite city
It’s a nice city that is quite busy in the morning and quiet in the evening. I enjoyed great food and people are very welcoming everywhere. For a business trip I enjoyed having free time at a local restaurant and strolling through Christmas markets
