One of the world's greatest art museums
To be honest we only went in to get out of the bitter winter cold, especially as I already knew the place from the days I worked in Brussels forty years ago. But wow - had it changed (apart from the entry price which used to be free) and, happily there's less space accorded to sad, muddy damp cows and the too many crucifixions. The generously proportioned rosy Rubens women are always a pleasure to see but the museum has developed especially on the more up to date artists such as Magritte and art nouveau. The shop is very good and the prices, particularly for the illustrated books on different artists. are reasonable.

    Major Belgian Art Museum
Large fine arts museum, we saw the ancient art section only. The works are well displayed and include a number of masterpieces Memling Jordaens Bruegel Cranach Rubens Van Dyck are some of the artists represented. It is a shame that you have to pay a separate fee to see the more recent Art section of the museum. As a footnote, there are no taxis around the museum even though there are taxi stands.
