I've taken numerous winery tours all over the world and this one is the absolute best. The second best one wouldn't even be close. The tour was taken as an Grand Cirlcle Cruise Line "included" tour. I believe that there was was a fee to take the tour; however, I'm not sure what it was. Their guide (photo attached) spoke perfect English and was very informative. The sample wines (3) were fairly decent size sample portions in a nice wine glass. The light show (old spirits), map room, and 3D movie was fansatic. Actually the movie was 5D with some smells and a breeze, etc. and it was so good I was sorry it was only 10 minutes (or so). They had a gift shop with some very reasonale priced wines starting at just under €5 per bottle too. See more..

There are so any places in this restaurant to eat, that you could get lost! We were shown to a room in the smoking area but moved swiftly on request. There are several indoor areas, several outdoors as well and next door there is a lovely downstairs sort of cellar which looks as if it might be nice for private parties..... Service was swift, we opted for breaded chicken and venison casserole amongst others and everything was delicious just the chicken was too much! Schloss Gobelsburg is the oldest winery in the Danube region with a documented history back to 1171. The history of the winery is connected to Cistercian monks, but since January 1996 the Château and the winery are managed by Eva & Michael Moosbrugger (Winemaker of the year 2006, Wine & Spirits Winery of the year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 & 2014). If you are nearby in Baden this is a great village to go to for wine and food. There are several good wineries and some have restaurants and then there are non-winery places to eat. What is interesting is that in the off season the town has rules that each restaurant can only be open for a few weeks in a rotating manner. this gives some business to all of them. This wine tavern/restaurant was filled with local town people and no tourists in December so it was fun to watch and listen. They specialize in local hardy home style food from the area and the food was fantastic, the dessert decanant, and we enjoyed a glass of wine from their winery. Wir sind spontan am Sonntag für ein Mittagessen und ein Glaserl Wein nach Sooß gefahren, und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Schon der Eingang sieht sehr einladend aus und im Innenhof war leider alles voll und drinnen viele Tische reserviert, wir hatten Glück und konnten drinnen ein nettes Platzerl ergattern. Getränke werden vom Service aufgenommen und gebracht, Essen muss man vorne an der Theke bestellen und selber auf den Platz tragen. Die Preise sind moderat, die Qualität ist ein Wahnsinn. The Winery & Buschenschank “Stefan Bauer” is located in the middle of Königsbrunn. In front of the modern designed building, which is equipped with a large glass front, where is the realy modern tasting room located, there are plenty of parking spaces in the area. A very beautiful courtyard with a large tree and flowers is very decorative designed, many tables and benches offers a rustical Heurigeratmosphäre, this is followed by the also modern designed indoor restaurant with bar / guest room. Therefore, it is recommended to reserve before to visit, as many guests appreciate this ambience and this wine tavern is always very well visited. A large part of the interior is provided with very large glass surfaces, which can also be opened. The tables are always very decorative and nicely decorated. The service staff is very friendly and always endeavored for the well-being of the guest. The menu offers very good red and white wines, especially the Rainthal Reserve or the Rote Veltliner, served well chilled, taste very good. A specialty of the house is the wild ham plate with wild sausage, wild ham, game spread and cranberry cream, served very well, large portion and unique in the taste - really to be recommended. Also meat bread with raw cutter, salmon trout on salad plate or seasonal spread bread - very good quality. This Heuriger offers great wines, a good selection of hot and cold foods and tranquil gardens in which you can enjoy the sun and the wine. Try the 'Most' when visiting, it's full of flavour and not too sweet. The staff are incredibly friendly and speak perfect English. They were very happy to make suggestions that helped us make the most of our visit to the wine regions around Baden. Nach einem Schiffsausflug in die Wachau sind wir wieder beim Heurigen Zottl eingekehrt, der erfreulicherweise auch ausgesteckt hatte. Der kleine Innenhof ist gerade an heißen Tagen ein nettes Refugium.
Die Auswahl an verschiedensten Fleisch- und Köäsesorten erinnert an Tapas - in diesem Fall Wachauer Tapas - alles liebevoll zubereitet und flott serviert. Abgerundet wird die Jause mit köstlichen selbst zubereiteten Deserts.

Das rechte Donauufer mag wohl ein wenig weniger attraktiv erscheinen, sind doch die Wachau-Hotspots wie Joching, Weissenkirchen, Spitz am anderen Ufer. Kulinarisch finden sich jedoch auf dieser Seite Lokale, wie der Winzerhof Pöchlinger, deren Besuch empfehlenswert ist.

Als "Rupertiwinzer" eine (historische) Besonderheit bietet die Familie Pöchlinger hohe Weinkultur - aber auch Safttrinker:innen kommen auf ihre Rechnung: Arnsbach ist die Marillenhochburg der Wachau. Und das schmeckt man auch!

Das Speisenangebot ist lokal und von bester Qualität. Da stimmt auch Preis und Leistung.

Auf der Terrasse sitzen ist wegen der Aussicht ein besonderes Erlebnis, das Lokal selbst ist wegen der hallenartigen Struktur nicht ganz so gemütlich und einladend. Als "Winzerhof" mag das ok sein, unter "Bilderbuch-Heurigen" verstehe ich allerdings ganz was anderes.

Die rasche und aufmerksame Bedienung (wir wurden um Geduld gebeten, da gerade eine Autobusgruppe verköstigt wurde) verdient Gutpunkte.

Fazit: Wer in der Wachau unterwegs ist, sollte hier einkehren - insbesondere bei Schönwetter.

Weil wir wegen der Wetterlage drinnen sitzen mussten nur ein Befriedigend, draußen wär's wohl ein Sehr gut.

During the 5-hours (!) BIO wine tasting we have tried 19 types of wine! from frizzante to white and red wines, the owners of the winery also offered bread and small snacks so you wont feel hungry at all! Small tip: don't drive by car there because you will taste around 600 ml of wine! also prepare to buy there some amazing wines (we purchased 10 bottles - the wine is extremely good!) I can highly recommend this place: the price of 19 wines tasting + snacks cost only 20 Euros! If you have a Niederösterreich Card - it will be free :) Very friendly owner family, great wine, tour to the wine cellar and around the winery, tasty snacks, good prices for BIO wine... sounds like a great plan for a Saturday afternoon :) See more..

The historical roots of Tegernseerhof go back over 1000 years. Holy Roman Emperor Henry II granted the Benedictine monastery of Tegernsee two oxgangs of land in Wachau. In 1176, Tegernseerhof was built and named after its owner. Today, Tegernseerhof is owned by the Mittelbach family. The winery has been in their possession for five generations. wir waren schon einige male beim 67er steiner in sooss und dabei eigentlich immer zufrieden. besonders zu erwähnen sind die frisch zubereiten schmankerln wie geröstete hühnerleber oder die pilzgerichte. sensationell lecker ist die cremeschnitte. ( unbedingt gleich reservieren lassen). die weine sind ebenfalls voll in ordnung. besonders nett ist es im schattige garten. ein kleiner vermutstropfen ist das leider öfters unfreunfliche personal.
