We went on a wall to see the castle tower and amphitheater. We walk good, hiking boots which made it comfortable as some spots steep, with rocks. We passed a lot of families and older couples who seemed very familiar and comfortable walking. It was worth the walk to get great city and country valley views. We heard woodpeckers and lucked in with a warm winters day.See more..

A hard walk uphill from hinterbruhl took us a good 1,5 hour to reach the temple, it is quite uphill just under 4 km. Hardly anybody on the way and a few people enjoying the view. Small temple with a nice view and two tables to rest. Overall good marked routes. Took a different route down which was rather steep down so not ideal but still a great round trip (3 hours walking) full of nature and sun. Ideal for these days of social distancing as overall we passed by 4 persons and a few mountain bikers. See more..

An interesting hiking trail in the Ybbstal offers impressive rock formations and interesting views into the Ybbstal over a distance of 3 kilometers. Starting point of the hike is a friendly Jausenstation (see opening times below) offering good local drink and fresh food. From there you follow a forest road - for the younger ones a happy story about witches and fairies is being shown at several stations - to the beginning of the "Schluchtenweg (Gorge's Way)" which will lead you to Witches Gorge, Stoup's Wall, Ox Hole, Crocodile Rock, Great view from Leofererstein Peak, Pig's Head Rock Bear Cave and Devil's Way. Wir haben für € 34 ein Ticket (für 2) raus aus Wien gelöst und sind nach Semmering gefahren (Umsteigen in Payerbach, wo wir eine Stunde Aufenthalt hatten und durch den netten Ort spaziert sind). In Semmering am Bahnhof gibt es keinerlei Versorgung, nur einen Getränkeautomaten, für den man Münzen benötigt. Wir sind nach Breitenbach gelaufen (3 Stunden), überwiegend nah zu den Gleisen. Es gibt unterwegs ein paar Stationen, wo man per Smartphone hineinhören kann, was Ghega (Erbauer der Semmeringbahn) erzählt. Die Ausblicke sind sehr nett, man sieht auch immer wieder Viadukte. Der "20 Schilling"-Blick ist ebenfalls nett (war früher auf dem Geldschein). Laut Beschreibung soll es unterwegs Versorgung durch Gastwirte geben; das war am 1. September (Sonntag) nicht der Fall. Lediglich kurz vorm Ende der Wanderung hätte man klingeln können, um Brot und Getränke zu erhalten. Den Aufwand einer langen Anreise von Wien und zurück darf man nicht unterschätzen (ca. 4 Stunden).See more..
5.0Wasserleitungsweg(1 review) - Eine Augenweide zu jeder Jahreszeit Hiking Trails Dieser auf der unterirdisch verlaufenden, alten Wiener-Hochquellwasserleitung angelegte Weinwanderweg zählt zu den schönsten des Landes. Er kann in beliebigen Abschnitten begangen werden - von Bad Vöslau bis nach Mödling und umgekehrt. Zentrale Orte sind Baden und Gumpoldskirchen. Leicht erreichbar sind die jeweiligen Orte durch öffentliche Verkehrsmittel. Die gesamte Trecke ist gut 20 km lang. Eine jede Jahreszeit hat hier seine Reize; in der wärmeren Jahreszeit werden an Labestationen die Wanderer bewirtet.See more..

In winter there is a small ski resort for families, in summer it is a low difficulty hiking path. Once you will reach the top of the mountain, over 1.000 meters, you will be able to enjoy a wonderful view on Lunzer See. From the lake it will take circa 4 hours to reach the top and go back to beginning of the lake. However, there is also a free parking just at the beginning of the cableway - you will save a couple of hours - if you want to make it shorter. Highly recommended, also for beginners.See more..
