4.5Suzhou Museum(833 reviews) - “Wu” culture and history Thursday: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Speciality Museums
It is a museum with unique cultural display. There are museums with much larger array of display in this world, but the Suzhou museum stands out in terms of the specialised contents on display (e.g., you will get mainly “Wu” cultural displays, and there isn’t any filler elements like dinosaur skeletons or things like that). The bamboo garden outside is nice and the main outdoor area is picturesque too.See more..
We arrived at 2:30pm on Tuesday 8/04/2020. No more tickets available. This is probably due to Covid-19. We got in on Wednesday by showing up at 9:30am. Americans need their passport and their health code (suikang) to get in. See more..
4.0Suzhou Silk Museum(306 reviews) - Beware of mosquitoes... Thursday: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM Speciality Museums
I was told that this was the best silk museum in China so I decided to pay it a visit. I had trouble enjoying the museum though.... as soon as I entered the room where you get to see the silk worms and the mulberry, I was attacked by mosquitoes! I have always been sensitive to mosquito bites so I rushed straight back into the hall. In the 5 minutes that I was outside with the silk worms and mulberry, I received 20 mosquito bites (17 on my legs and 3 on my arm). By the time we left the museum, my legs were swollen and it hurt to walk. My friend on the otherhand did not get a single bite... Keeping an open mind, I do find the museum quite educational. We even got to watch people weave the silk. The museum is quite small though since the gift shop seems to take up a large amount of space. I would NOT recommend this place for those of you who are mosquito magnets.See more..
4.5Suzhou Garden Museum(108 reviews) - Come here before you visit actual gardens Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Speciality Museums
This is a great museum to prepare your visit to actual classical gardens of Suzhou. There are docents who do free guided tours at certain times of the day. The museum did a great job dissecting key components of Suzhou's classical gardens so you know what to look for when you actually visit one.See more..
4.0Nanjing City Museum(74 reviews) - Wow Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Speciality Museums

4.0Wuxi Museum(46 reviews) - Between past and future Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
I always thought that this strange building was the opera house of Wuxi, a theatre. Insteade inside is hidden a big and well designed museum. Building is divided in three section: central hall, right and left sides. On the right side there is the historical museum. Four floors that describe Wuxi' cultures, origin and traditional arts&crafts. Most of the main information are provided either in chinese or in english, so it is easy also for foreign people to know the main facts. Central hall presents the 3D cinema. Left sides and underground levels are dedicated to new technologies, with foucs on those that are developed inside the company in Wuxi district.See more..

4.5Zhou En'lai Memorial Hall(36 reviews) - Peaceful space Thursday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
I've been here twice now and it's been a delight each time. The second time I had the added delight of witnessing black swans swimming in the lake adjoining the memorial Hall. It'a a 5A accredited scenic spot in China and entry is usually free. There's very little shade so if you go in high summer, wear sunscreen and bring an umbrella.See more..
4.0Zhenjiang Museum(33 reviews) - Discover the past of Zhenjiang Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
The newly built museum is located on the site of the former British Consulate. Zhenjiang became a Treaty Port as of April 1861. Some of the buildings of the consulate are still under renovation and make a very homogeneous architectural complex, along with the new museum, all decorated with red and black bricks. The museum houses interesting collections of bronze wares, porcelain or painting. Nice view on Zhenjiang from the gardens. Close to the museum, the site of the old embankment at the time the Yangtze River had not moved its bed to the south. In particular, do not miss the old street that start from the right of the museum and the strange stone pagoda dating from the Yuan dynasty, hanging above the street. If you like walking, on the street that leaves from the left side of the museum, you will see some old buildings such as the Guild of merchants from Canton or the former Chamber of Commerce. Some of these buildings are now being refurbished.See more..
4.0Changzhou Museum(25 reviews) - museum was ok, Changzhou planning display was far more interesting Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
The Museum has 2 areas, the actual museum door right and the Changzhou city development door left. Both exhibitions were free. This building is open all days except on Monday. The museum was quite small and display comments were predominantly in Mandarin. The museum covers 3 floors and this part of of the building I moved through petty quickly as it was fairly basic. I did actually enjoy the display and the focus for development of the city of Changzhou. This display covers 4 floors in the building and was more interesting to me. The actual museum is a very modern building and the area nearby is worth visiting to simply walk around. Nearby appears to be government offices and the main sports stadium is close to the museum. 4.0Museum of Han Guangling King(17 reviews) - A taste of ancient China Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality Museums
This was one of the few places on our China tour where we were able to get a sense of ancient, pre-Buddhist China. The tomb reconstruction is interesting, as are the exhibits on the surrounding walls, mostly labeled in passable English. A highlight is the jade burial suite of the ancient kingSee more..
4.0Nantong Museum(16 reviews) - Nice museum nestled in a highly scenic area! Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
The museum is not so much one museum as it is a collection of many small to medium buildings featuring a number of galleries. In all, an hour or two is more than enough time to see most of the halls, but the landscaped grounds outside can easily take another hour or two should you enjoy a picnic here. If you arrive in the early morning (7:30 to 8:30) you will find locals practicing Tai-chi, fan dances, fencing, and many other traditional Asian physical arts. The museum is also very close to some great shopping streets and the Si Lu old street (not sure of the name). Right outside the main gate was an adorable cafe that served great coffee and sold a huge range of gifts and snacks.... The main exhibit halls looked to have been renovated very recently.See more..

A great park that is free to enter. The park is well maintained and the flowers and trees are lovely. The weather was amazing when we went and it was nice to see so many families enjoying the park. The memorial is really impressive and the relief on the actual monument is very interesting. Behind the monument, there's a picture made of tiles showing the events that took place there. A good way to spend a few hours on a sunny day!See more..
Abacus museum is a small two storeyed place. However, it is a nicely built museum. The kids would find it interesting to see abacuses of different sorts over the period of time. Moreover, this small visit to the museum can conveniently be combined with visit to adjacent China Audit History Museum and a nice walk on the pathway along Hao River. If still more time is available, the adjacent one hour boat ride in Hao River can also be undertaken which gives nice city views. See more..

Dingshu Town 丁蜀镇 and Dingshan Town 丁山镇 run together about a 50 Yuan taxi ride from Yixing City 宜兴市。 This is the place to buy a fine clay teapot, to use in making gongfu style tea 功夫茶。They are small and made from the local special clay 宜兴紫砂。They are famous throughout China. Dozens of small shops are located side by side in this area. It isn't just a single museum. Look a lot of the items before you buy. Remember to bargain. 4.0China Water Transport Museum(5 reviews) - China Caoyun Water Transportation System on the Grand Canal Speciality Museums
The Caoyun Museum which is really unique especially if you are interested in the Grand Canal. The Caoyun System was a water and land based grain transportation system, begun in China during the Qin dynasty (221 BC – 206 BC) which saw continual use until the Qing dynasty (1644–1911). The primary purpose of the Caoyun was tax collection, and boy was it an intricate one), since grain was a major payment method accepted by the imperial administration. The system also played a secondary role as a distribution network for army provisions. Close to the museum is the old district (HeXia Ancient town) with small canals and old shops.See more..
