4.0Yangtze River(929 reviews) - Beautiful scenery, relaxing trip Thursday: 8:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
Winding across 3,988 miles (6,418) of China the Yangtze River is the third longest rive in the world. It begins its journey at the Qinhai-Tibet Plateau and ends at the East China Sea. The Yangtze River has a rich ecosystem, fascinating history, and is the most important river in China. Life has always sprung up around the Yangtze River. The earliest signs of life dating back 27 thousand years. The climate on the river is often milder then its cousin the Yellow River making it more suitable for agriculture.See more..
4.5Slender West Lake(844 reviews) - Shanghai Family to Yangzhou for the weekend Thursday: 6:30 AM - 5:15 PM Bodies of Water • Historic Walking Areas • Gardens
It is a wonderful lake that offers so much history spanning back to the 7th Century. It is grandiose and I highly recommend taking your family on a boat trip. The gardens are immaculate and there are places for children, we discovered a small petting zoo and a few slides. Therefore we were all entertained sufficiently!See more..
4.5Xuanwu lake(676 reviews) - Great Day on the Lake Thursday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Bodies of Water
There are many places to rent small motor powered boats on the lake for 140 RMB an hour + 500 RMB deposit. The boats can sit four to six people and we thought the ones with the red and green striped sides and the ones with two animal heads to be the fastest. The duck and swan boats are nice because you can have four to five people seated facing each other but the bird head will block your view. The west side was much less busy so we went that way for the views of the wall, Zifeng Tower and Jiming Temple. Quite a few inexperienced boaters when we went so we kept our distance while we watched people play accidental bumper boats. One hour is more than enough time on the lake and do plan your time because the boats are slow!See more..
4.0Suzhou Ancient Grand Canal(537 reviews) - The city of canals! Thursday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Bodies of Water
Suzhou is located in southern Jiangsu Province in the center of the Yangtze Delta. The city is divided by the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal from north to south. This is an ancient city with over 2,500 years of history and numerous points of interest the unique characteristics of the past are still retained today. See more..
4.5Jinji Lake(442 reviews) - Exemplary Chinese urban lake and green environment Thursday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM Bodies of Water
Jinji (Golden Chicken) Lake gives oxygen to Suzhou. The lake feels large enough to be like a sea but you can walk round it briskly in less than 3 hours (follow the "Fitness Trail"). Inevitably quite crowded on/near the plaza in front of the famous "Big Trousers" skyscraper, you can excape the throng quite fast. Architecture around the lake is generally attractive - and dramatically lit up in the evening. Restaurants/cafes either near the plaza or especially near the Culture & Arts Centre, also on East side (Western) or SW section. Boat trips available and I believe you can visit the island in the middle with a pagoda. If you are well-heeled, try staying at the ship-shaped Crowne Plaza (v good) on NW shore. Just a pity that the famous fountain show has been cancelled for 18 monthsSee more..
4.0Tai Hu Lake(255 reviews) - On a Groupon tour Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water

4.0Qin Huai River(245 reviews) - Loved Walking Around at Night Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites • Bodies of Water • Neighborhoods
We went in late March 2021 and they had many new light displays set up. It is very busy near the shops and Confucious Temple areas but just past this it is nice. Many boats traverse the river for the displays but we enjoyed just walking around the river area so that we could take our time seeing it all. Most of the area is free to walk around but if you like lanterns and light displays we would recommend checking out Bailuzhou Park nearby. Closest metro is Confucious Temple Station and I would recommend going in the evening. Shops start to close around 9:00 pm and they kept the lights on until around 10:00 pm on a Monday evening when we went.See more..
4.0Mt Huaguoshan(183 reviews) - Do a workout :) Thursday: 7:00 AM - 9:30 PM Historic Sites • Bodies of Water • Mountains
The title describes it exactly. My fitness app shown after the visit 69 floors walked. And this really the stairs only. So, make sure you are in good condition ;) To the scenic self: We drove up the mountain by car from the back side. A really small path through the rocks of this mountain. If you have a car, I suggest this way. Otherwise you can take a bus (20yuan) for uphill. There are some interesting spots on this mountain. Like a waterfall cave, strange rock formations, temples and all over are monkeys. The monkeys are cheeky, naughty and they try take all of you what you don't hide. There are toilets enough, snacks and water (5rmb/bottle) everywhere. You should calculate 4 hours to step to each scenic point. On the bus stop on the temple you can book a downhill on tube boat. (no idea about the price).... Enjoy your day there :) See more..

3.0Baoying Lake(1 review) - Interesting Side to Chinese Life Thursday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Bodies of Water
Baoying Lake consists of a number of vast sprawling wetland. parks, walking trails and children's activities (rides etc.). It is interesting to observe the local people spending the day in the park enjoying some r&r. I spent most of the morning being taken on a brisk tour, which included a boat ride on the lake and a quick tour around the various walking trails and had time to stop in and see the Dragonboat festivities. A boat ride on the lake is my pick of the activities as getting on water, you realise the vast size of the water boat and the beauty of the wetlands. The walking trail through the bird area was also quite good. Within the Lake grounds is also a hotel and restaurant but I did not check this out.See more..
