My wife and I have seen Brule' four times, Hill City, Indianapolis, Mesa, Arizona, New Buffalo, Michigan. Always put on an excellent show. The native dancers are amazing. - 5.0 Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway (80 reviews)
-Engineering marvel of a road
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Drives • Geologic Formations
This scenic drive along 16A is a marvel of early 20th century engineering. A very winding road, it provides vistas and numerous areas to pull over and enjoy the scenery. The LOW and NARROW tunnels are quite the treat. Forget going to see Mount Rushmore at the park. This route includes an overlook that provides a FREE, commanding view from across the valley of the monument. The winding drive up to this overlook is its own adventure (especially the LOW and NARROW tunnels). Once at the overlook, the info placards and trails and rock scrambling and free parking are added bonuses that make this location a great opportunity. See more..
- 5.0 Sage Meadow Ranch (71 reviews)

Ranches • Horseback Riding Tours
The views, the horse and Holly were perfect! Holly truly loves what she does and loves to share that joy with others. We took our girls for a ride and they are still talking about what all they learned from Miss. Holly! Holly was so gentle with teaching the girls more about horses and the land. By the end of the ride they were so comfortable around the horses and talking with Holly and taking care of the horses. We will be back again to ride and learn more. See more..
- 5.0 Andy's Trail Rides (70 reviews)
-Sunset Horseback Ride - 2hrs
Horseback Riding Tours
Andy’s Trail Rides was a great activity on our trip. We did a “sunset horseback ride” for two hours which is more than enough time to see all of the sights and sunset. Our guide was Jasmine and she was absolutely amazing. She was super friendly, had a lot of knowledge of the area, and was checking in with us during the duration of our ride to make sure we felt comfortable. At some points, Jasmine asked if we wanted to did a little more of trotting and running in certain areas and we did what we were comfortable with at those points! We felt it was a very “personal” ride being that it was just us two and the guide which was awesome. I would recommend Andy’s Trail Rides! See more..

Breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, beyond our wildest imagination! We arrived after a raging thunderstorm that turned the sky purple with huge thunder clouds. The short burst of torrential rain washed the spires and formations to reveal their rich colors in the late afternoon sunshine that followed. The kids (and adults) loved climbing and adventuring in the moonscape-like terrains. What nature and God conspired to create is truly a marvel worth experiencing at least once in your lifetime. I felt safe the entire flight and Petra was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was nice to have the basket to ourselves so we could truly share the incredible experience together. The scenery was beautiful and we saw wildlife. She took some great pictures of us in the air and shared them afterwards. The chase team worked together like synchronized swimmers, it was really cool watching them work. Afterwards there was a post flight celebration with libations/apple juice and goodies to be enjoyed while Petra explained the history of Ballooning. Fantastic! Absolutely worth the money and time. Highly recommend!! Keeping it on the bucket list because I want to do it again! See more..
- 5.0 Lake Vermillion Recreation Area (24 reviews)
-Lakefront Real Estate
State Parks
We stayed 3 nights at the Lake Vermillion Campground and loved it. What a pretty area and beautiful lake. There are campsites lakeside and also a loop. The sites are large and roomy. We loved all the "Christmas" tree type pines throughout the park. Very peaceful and quiet. You will find a few boats on the lake on weekends but no one infringes on your site. The campground had lots of rabbits so keep your dogs on a leash. We also encountered finding some ticks on our dog but we kept an eye out for them so wasn't a problem. We did some hiking trails within the park and saw the dam there also. Great place for fishing. We thoroughly enjoyed our lakefront real estate for our 3 days in the park. See more..

- 4.5 Little Devil's Tower Trail (100 reviews)
-The highlight of our trip!
Hiking Trails
Cathedral Spires trail meets up with a trial that will bring you closer to the top of Little Devils Tower. This was the highlight of our trip. We did the whole Cathedral hike that brings you through crevasses in rock walls and into the spires, had a snake slither across my feet, and then on the way back there is a trail leading to Little Devils Tower trail. On that trail, we had two different times where bucks jumped out right in front of us, only 6 feet away. There are stunning views at the top of Little Devils Tower, bit if you want to go to the top, dogs can't make it and you do need to scamper up the side of rock mountain. Our 10 year old had no trouble making the hike up, but some people were giving up before they made it to the top. See more..
- 4.5 Badlands Ranch Store (100 reviews)
-Adorable Prairie Dogs
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Speciality & Gift Shops
Arrived in the late afternoon with wife and two daughters (who were 13 and 6 years). Location had a few other visitors at the time, but it was fairly quiet for the most part. Probably helpful to our experience, since there were a lot of prairie dogs out and active in the field. Bought a couple bags of peanuts to feed them, which met with some albeit limited luck... Being so late in the day, I'm guessing that the prairie dogs had been fed pretty well throughout the day. Highly recommend taking the time to make the stop, especially if you have kids who love animals. The prairie dogs, while still free to roam wild, are fairly tame and used to interacting with humans. There is no admission fee to visit the prairie dog area, and you can buy bags of unsalted peanuts in the shell for only $1 a piece. Prairie dogs might take peanuts from your hand if you're calm and quiet enough, but you can still get them to come close even if you can't hand-feed them. See more..

- 4.5 Devil’s Bathtub (98 reviews)
-Be prepared!
Bodies of Water
Imagine your wife seeing a sign on the side of the road pointing out parking for Devil's Bathtub. Of course, I said "Let's check it out!" The parking lot was packed with no one in sight. My husband, son, and I begin walking along the creek on a narrow path. We come across others returning from their trek, telling us it's well worth it. We keep going along, into the forest, up, down, and around trees, rocks, and cliff faces. Clouds loom over the canopy. We keep going without knowing what lies ahead. Soon lots of people are coming back in swimwear with towels and such. Thunder and sprinkles, but we have come a long way crossing the creek many times on rocks and trees. It has become a path to conquer. We take cover under trees here and there and finally an overhang in the cliff wall. When the rain stops, we find Devil's Bathtub empty of people. What a wonderful hike and a beautiful path. Take water shoes if you can and plan for several hours! See more..
