What a somber sight to see. I always get choked up when I see a cemetery of our national men and women’s burial place after serving our country. It reminds me of their sacrifice for our nation of their dedication to serve when neither I nor others do not. I’m passed the age here but even so. See more..

If you've read all the books, you will find it interesting to walk through this cemetery to find graves of those you've read about. Stop in at one of the visitor centers or Ingalls stops to get a map of the cemetery that tells you where certain people are buried from the books. We all found it very interesting. Lovely views. While we were there it was VERY windy, so just might want to be prepared just in case. See more..
  4. 4.0 Lakota Freedom Veteran's Cemetery (2 reviews)
    - Lakota Veterans Cemetery
Saturday: Spent < 1 hour Cemeteries
The Lakota Veterans Cemetery is located on a very high sloping wind swept landscape surrounded by the beautiful vast rolling hills and valleys of the Oglala Lakota Nation lands. This cemetery site was very well chosen by the Lakota Nation. The Lakota Veterans Cemetery is a very peaceful setting and easily draws you to reflect on those honored here and the many struggles and accomplishments of those veterans and of the Oglala Lakota Nation. A very fitting place of final rest for men and women who served their tribe and Nation so very well. See more..
