Built in 1914 by the Homestake Gold Mine the building boasted a billiards hall, bowling alley, library, 1,000-seat theater, and a 25-yd. heated indoor swimming pool. The elaborately designed building survived a theater fire in 1984 and sat empty for nearly a dozen years; but now is a nonprofit performing arts venue hosting 50 events per year in theatre, dance, and concerts, and educational presentations while the building continues to be restored in stages.See more..

We had such a great time here. We watched 2 movies and they started around 9:15 and we finished around 12:30 pm. The only thing to be aware of is MapQuest directions send you into a neighborhood and doesn’t take you to the theater. If you are unfamiliar with the area call ahead and get directions so you don’t end up lost in the dark. See more..
Have been there three times now and the results are the same. Service is great. Three choices of entrees (beef, Chicken, and fish) with sides, salad, soup, and desert. Quality is very good considering the mass serving. The plays are good considering the amateur talent. All personnel are volunteer. Tickets are hard to get so plan ahead.See more..

The Coyote Twin is a non-profit community run cinema located in downtown Vermillion, SD. The theater has been a keystone of Vermillion life and culture for decades. In July 2015, a group of local citizens purchased the theater in order to prevent it from closing. Since the purchase, over $200,000 in donation have led to improvements in both theaters. They have been updated with digital projection, state of the art sound, new screens. rocker back chairs and new lighting. Come check out why the Coyote Twin is the best cinema experience in southeastern South Dakota.See more..

4.0Grand Opera House(1 review) - Great Jewel off I29 Theaters I attended a concert of a husband/wife singing group in this revitalized old theater in Dell Rapids. The seating was new and comfy in the back of the auditorium. Up front had older wooden seats that did not look all that comfortable. The performance included a dinner for $8 pp. I would encourage the venue to update their catering as it was marginal at best and I should have eaten elsewhere. A glass of wine made the tasteless pasta acceptable and the company of friends was most important. The term "opera house" is somewhat on target as the charm of this building resembled a small French opera house- more than one in a farm community.See more..
