This double decker bridge used to carry US-81 traffic until around 2008. It’s sturdy enough that it was kept in place for pedestrian travel. You can walk both decks, in fact most people use the other when turning around. The South Dakota side goes to Downtown Yankton, the Nebraska side goes to an RV park and woods. Scenic views too. - A great walk with views of the Missouri River

Numerous times I have stayed at Lee's Best Western located on the east side of the bridge. The bridge spans he Missouri River and affords the opportunity for some incredible views. On this trip I caught the sunset and all the spectacular lighting that goes with it. There is a designated bike and pedestrian lane, though not well defined, offering some safety from the traffic. You can tailor the walk to your liking, on my last visit it was about a mile which is about the distance of the immediate span proper out and back. I look forward to stretching my legs here after a day in the car. See more..
