- 5.0 Laguna de Guatape (1.623 reviews)
-I Could Live Here
Sunday: 5:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
From Medellin I hired a taxi to take me to Guatpe. It is normally about a two hour ride, but because this was on Sunday, there was a lot of traffic and it took almost 3 hours. The driver was very accommodating and for a small hourly fee waited in Guatape while I toured around. I took a boat tour, and the scenery is amazing. The lagoon is truly a beautiful place, dotted with lovely homes, and few remnants of Pablo Escorbar. The hour long excursion is well worth it. See more..
- 5.0 Medellin Adventure Trails (257 reviews)
-On the fence? Do it!
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours
We are in Medellin for 3 short days, and this experience is easily the highlight of our trip in our 2 week trip to Colombia. I just got my motorcycle endorsement last year, and my husband has been street riding for the past several years, so I wasn’t sure how the terrain and route would be matched to our differing levels. But Pablo was our guide, and even in the rain he led us through the back roads of beautiful scenery and away from the hustle & bustle of the city center. Despite the rain, we had an amazing time and will definitely be back for the longer tour the next time we visit. Because we will be back. See more..

-Easy and helpful folk that get off of the beaten path :)
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Motorcycle Tours • Motorcycle Trails • Self-Guided Tours & Rentals
These guys guys were great! The bikes were in good condition, well priced, and they were so considerate to ensure you were safe to ride before you did. They’re also really trusting and helpful, with a giant map to show you how to get to all these places around Guatapé that most never see; waterfalls, rivers, towns. We didn’t do the organised your, instead opting to rent a bike for a few hours and ride to San Rafael for lunch. Even just the road and the views were worth it! Definitely make this a part of your Guatapé stay and get off of the beaten path :) See more..

- 4.5 Medellin Metrocable (6.725 reviews)
-An aerial view to the city of the eternal spring
Public Transportation Systems
The Metrocable is a gondola lift that links the city center with the surrounding hillside communities. More than just an efficient mode of transportation, it is also a convenient and affordable way to see Medellin, offering breathtaking views of the city and surrounding countryside. Your regular metro ticket covers the cost of the 30-minute ride, and you can take the trip multiple times as long as you do not exit the station. The hilltop residents make their daily commute on the Metrocable so it can get busy during peak hours. And take note of the timing of the last car from the top. – Tripadvisor See more..

- 4.5 Metro de Medellin (3.198 reviews)
-Fast, Cheap, Efficient, and Clean!
Public Transportation Systems
We were truly impressed with the metro system in Medellin, as it was so cheap to get around from one end to the city, to another. The service was on time, really fast, and the cleanest I've ever seen. Definitely the way to go if you want to travel fast in Medellin. See more..
- 4.5 Jardín Botánico de Medellín (2.510 reviews)
-A lovely place to spend a couple hours
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Gardens
Nice park. I spent about two hours here (and I really like plants so I lingered). Entrance is free to the general gardens with a 4,000 peso charge for the butterfly exhibit - only a one US dollar and definitely worth it. Butterfly tour is via a guided tour in Spanish but I just enjoyed the surroundings while she talked since my Spanish is limited. Only plants in the butterfly exhibit have identifying signs. Still, it's a nice place to wander around. I was asked for proof of covid vaccination and identification matching that on my vaccination card. See more..
- 4.5 Piedra Del Penol (2.476 reviews)
-Definitely worth a visit.
Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Geologic Formations
You have to buy a ticket and climb over 740 steps to reach the viewing tower on top of this monolithic rock, but the sweeping 360º views of Guatape Lake and the surrounding El Penol region are well worth the price of admission. There are also restaurants at both the base and the summit. If you're already in Guatape town, it's a short tuk-tuk ride or an easy half-hour walk from the square. For travelers coming from Medellin, La Piedra is a two-hour bus trip away; booking a day trip is often a cheap and convenient option. – Tripadvisor See more..
- 4.5 Parque Arvi (2.081 reviews)
-Arvi park
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
This sprawling nature reserve covering almost 40 acres is located on top of a hill just outside Medellín. It's a popular place for picnics and has plenty of nature trails for hiking or cycling. An experienced tour guide will be able to point out endemic species like butterflies and orchids amidst the lush forest. Don't forget to pop by the local market—which is at its most bustling on the weekends—to find local produce, handicrafts, and souvenirs. While you can drive there, one of the most scenic ways to get there is to ride Medellin's Metrocable L Line, which requires a separate ticket from the standard metro line. – Tripadvisor See more..
- 4.5 Museo de Antioquia (2.004 reviews) from $6.50
-Must See Art Museum w Botero Floor
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM History Museums
This is the best museum in Medellin for Colombian modernist and some historic art. The impressive full floor of Boteros and rhe Botero sculptures in the adjacent plaza need at least an hour. Don't miss the rest of the collection which needs adequate time to appreciate. Not the nicest part of the city but a "must see" attraction. Great and affordable priced gift store. See more..

- 4.5 Escaleras Electricas De La Comuna 13 (549 reviews)
-Fantastic Place to Visit
Points of Interest & Landmarks
I found the half day we spent in Communa 13 incredibly interesting and rewarding. We had a guided tour of tge Commuba and learned a lot about it's history. The escalators are a brilliant way to explore the area and have really opened up the communa to visitors and the rest of the city. If you told ne before I went that a set of escalators would be one of the highlights of my tine in Medellin, I'd have laughed! But they were! The place is so vibrant, so colourful, so energetic, and the escalators have had a huge effect on the place. Amazing views of the city and a great place to visit. See more..

- 4.5 El Tesoro Parque Comercial (398 reviews)
-Great view of the city
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM Shopping Malls
Quite an impressive high-end mall. Better than the majority of malls I've seen back in the US. Great place to hang out, rest, and get food. The views of the city are absolutely spectacular as well. Worth the trip if you have some extra time. See more..
- 4.5 Centro Historico Santa Fe de Antioquia (332 reviews)
-A snapshot of Colombia's colonial history - worth a visit.
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Most travelers do not understand how huge the size of Colombia is. From Medellín to Santa Fe de Antioquia is about 90 minutes on a good day. Sadly, the construction of the new autopsista (freeway) means that there are lots of one-lane, traffic-control areas and lots of huge construction trucks along the route. We encountered 30 minute plus delays coming and going. I highly recommend starting much earlier in the day. Once there, park a few blocks away in the private parking lots if you're in a private car. Lots of little places to explore in the town square starting with the Basilica and then the other churches all a minutes apart. If you speak and read Spanish, the attractions will be more interesting. Plenty of OK restaurants and places to get coffee and ice cream. It is always warm here - dress accordingly. Enjoy your visit. See more..
- 4.5 Río Claro Valley (317 reviews)
-Amazing place!
Nature & Wildlife Areas
This is a stunning natural reservation and a must see if you are in town and of course if you are looking to spend some time in the middle of nature and out of the city and its normal rhythm. The facilities are simple but very well kept, the river is absolutely beautiful but gotta be careful since its really strong. This is Colombia so everything is under your risk.. there are no life guards or anything, if you drown you drown..so don't be stupid! We went to the cave and it is absolutely amazing!! just make sure you are in shape to hike through the forest for 1 hr, cross the river fully dressed (shoes and pants strongly recommended) and then walk though the cave for 40 min.. the cave has a stream of water that goes back to the river.. you gotta swim and jump into wells.. slide through the rocks etc... they don't speak English and don't do a good job describing the adventure with all it takes.. so make sure you are in shape and are willing to go for it, once you cross the river there's no going back! If you prefer to be with small groups definitely avoid weekends! See more..
- 4.5 Museo Casa de la Memoria (316 reviews)
-A very powerful museum
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums
This museum is great, a must for visitors to Medellin. It is a powerful history lesson and remembrance of the decades of armed conflict in Colombia, with particular focus on humanizing all victims. While the content is very heavy (obviously), the museum also sends a powerful message of hope and solidarity in Colombia. Give yourself at least a couple hours to be there because there is a lot to see and absorb. See more..
- 4.5 Plaza Mayor (271 reviews)
-Nice oasis in busy city
Sunday: Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
If you are visiting the museum of agua or el parque of tired feet then you may as well cross the street to Plaza Mayor. I cannot comment on shows there but they have 5 or 6 very pleasant restaurants overlooking a small bamboo garden....on a weekday lunch time it was busy with local office workers enjoying themselves...the restaurants are more "elegant" than the fast food places you will find around museum del agua. See more..
- 4.5 Centro Historico de Jardin (265 reviews)
-A perfect little Colombian town.
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
It would be really hard to find a cuter town than Jardin. The central square was perfect with brightly colored building surrounding it, and locals and tourists alike out enjoying this beautiful place. There were lots of places to sit and have a drink or get something to eat and watch the world go by. If you are here, stay into the evening for the nightlife and to watch the riders come into town to show off their amazing horses. A very unique experience. See more..
