Our tour guide, Nelson, was awesome!! A fun excursion that packed in a whole lot in a day. The short riverboat cruise that went by Pablo Escobar's abandoned compound was super interesting. The town of Guatape was beautiful... I wish we had more time to spend here. Definitely recommended for a day trip while in Medellin!!

The BEST tour to visit el Penon in Guatape.
Highly recommended professional tour guide. We did a Guatape la Piedra del penon tour. Our tour guide Diego was awesome, and super accommodating,nice and knowledgeable. Breakfast, and lunch was included and it was delicious. Wear comfortable sneakers. We did a boat ride to pablo Escobar la Manuela the ride was lots of fun. A walk to a beautiful colorful town. This wad a really awesome tour. ? The penon has breathtaking view. ?

2nd Excellent Day with Liliana Eco Tours Columbia
We choose VIP because we want to see and understand as much as possible. El Penol first sighting a beautiful phoenix, picture worthy. A small community based around a charming church still decorated for the holidays. We visited during the week. Surprised, church filled with locals, as well with tourists. Then stopped at a replica of the community that was moved to allow for the lake. Next stopped at the marina for a private boat cruise. Reminded us of what we in Ontario call the Thousand Islands. Houses were pointed out belonging to football players and a movie star. Not to be forgotten Escobar’s lived here too.. We would not want to wear an Escobar t shirt but we were happy to learn the history. It is good the property still exists.. Columbians can be proud they managed to rise above their difficulties. Next the big rock. We did not climb the hundreds of stairs. Instead we stopped at a patio overlooking the lake. Beautiful This overview is what makes it better than the Thousand Islands.. Our last stop Guatupe proper. We are left with wonderful memories of our journey to Guatape...the community of Zocalos. I will not say more as it is nice to be surprised. We did not just walk through and see. Liliana gave us an understanding of the people and their lives. Don’t regret the money spent choosing a VIP tour. We had a full day outing and memorable experience.. Not to be forgotten a good fresh lunch too. Decided to take one more adventure to Sante Fe before going home.
