From cobblestone streets, to crumbling buildings, to brightly painted and tree-lined side streets, Honda is a gem. There are rough edges, but the inner beauty is yet to be discovered by many. We have read conflicting reports on the actual number of bridges (25 to 40) but the town monument lists 25 so we will rely on that number. There are colonial streets and hints of Getsamani, Cartagena but it still stands on its own as a unique experience.The heat is intense but a cool cerveza along the Magdelana watching the fisherman is a welcome respite. Highly recommend a visit here as it offers a slightly different flavour for those wanting to experience something a little different. See more..

If you'd like to see a beautiful botanical garden, do not go. The gardens were dried up and a bit disappointing. If you like hiking and want a lovely view of Ibague, you should most certainly go! I walked from the city centre and paid 10,000 pesos to enter. I hikedv 5+ km on a rustic jungle trail. I was the only one there and it was lovely! Do bring lots of water, lunch, a hat and sunscreen! Wow. We were NOT expecting this. A small but wonderfully curated museum kept out attention with their great displays and charming pieces. Not sure I have seen such a small museum so well curated with art pieces, variety and interesting corners. The books on the upper floor kept us fascinated for a good 30 minutes. As everyone else has written in their reviews, this little field trip was amazing. I have nothing bad to say about anything we did. A few things: you will sweat. You absolutely will get your shoes dirty. The best kind of footwear would be some old shoes, even better waterproof hiking boots if you're going during the rain season. There are bugs. Lots of them. Mosquitos, ants, things I can't name. Bring repelente. The boots will also help keep the ankle biters away. If you want to do the extra things such as feeding the animals and holding them, and I recommend that you do since it's honestly a cool experience, you should bring about 40.000 cop with you. That includes the bottled water they offer you at the "main" stop. When you book the experience they will offer you a Cab ride there. It's a good idea to take it unless you're like us and took your own car there. If you do that just be prepared for some wild roads. Overall, do it! You won't regret it! See more..

There is a guy called Fernando that goes to hostels in Salento and offers a tour that includes a hike in the crater of the Vulcan machin, bath in a thermal pool and a visit to a stalagmite and asks for 130.000 per person. Just don't do it. Bad aspects 1. We were 6 people in a jeep for 5. One needed to stand outside (even if it was raining) the jeep or in the trunk (bumping your head on the top of the car), which made the trip unpleasant and unsafe. 2. We did not have the time to do the hike in the Volcano, we just drove there and had a quick look. Even though we were assured we would have had the time to do all the three activities mentioned we didn't. Even though no special or unforeseen event occurred to justify a delay in the program. 3. Thermal bath pool was destroyed. We couldn't have a bath as promised. Apparently a heavy rain destroyed it the night before we visited. As confirmed by the guard that takes care of the pool, Fernando, the organizer of the pool was aware of it early in the morning before picking us up but didn't say anything to us. Moreover, it might also have been that the pool was destroyed before that night. 4. The path to reach the stalagmite was closed by vegetation and our driver had to use a machete to bring us to the stalagmite. 5. We asked for a partial remboursement as we didn't do nearly anything of what we paid for (his and thermal bath). We were denied both a discussion on the topic or any apology by Fernando, the organizer, which at the end of the day got 40 euro from each of us without providing the services/visits we paid for. We didn't even get back the entrance fee for the thermal bath which was completly destroyed! Even if the view at the volcano is nice it is not worthy an entire day drive in an unconfurtable jeep and the excursion offered by Fernando is a rip-off. See more..
