I was in San José del Guaviare for a week and had an unforgettable time with Geotours. All of my wishes were taken into account when I was planning my tours. I was given an excellent English speaking guide, Santiago, whom I highly recommend. He is very knowledgeable in every area, was extremely helpful, funny and a very personable and pleasant person. Of course I was with the rock carvings, which for me were the most beautiful and impressive thing I have ever seen in Colombia (and I have been to Colombia over 10 times). This is an absolute must for every Colombia traveler. I saw a lot of animals (e.g. 5 different types of monkeys, an incredible number of beautiful birds, etc.). I was also constantly surprised and pampered with culinary delights. Many thanks to the entire Geotours team. I very much hope to come back soon! See more..

We had an excellent trip to Guaviare with Biodiverso Travel. Our guide Wendy was very knowledgeable, kind, and fun. They customized the trip to fit our arrival and departure schedule and the activities we wanted to do. The hotel we stayed at was very nice and we had great food throughout the trip. They took care of all the details and everything went very smoothly. We visited Cerro Azul (the paintings), Econare (a lagoon to swim with dolphins), Puerta de Orion, and Pozos Naturales (natural ponds), and Trankilandia (river with semi-aquatic plants). We had a Spanish-speaking guide (as I was traveling with two Colombians) but they offered us the option of an English-speaking guide. I highly recommend a trip to Guaviare with Biodiverso Travel! Bring hiking boots, long pants, sunscreen, a swimsuit, and rain gear for this trip. See more..

I visited this sanctuary famous for the tunnels and the bats in them. But I was astonished by the rock formations. It is enigmatic the way huge rocks are settled on small rocks. There is ancient paintings on the rock, colourful rivers and lots of flowers and animals that makes this site an enigmatic place. See more..

The extensive rock paintings which feature images of local flora & fauna, including capybara, herons, snakes, frogs and tapirs can be found on both sides of an outcrop. Follow signs from the main road or book a tour with a guide in San Jose del Guaviare - Geotours are good. It's an easy 3 hr walk there & back. Although this area was something of a no-go area in the FARC years, there were absolutely no problems for us as a group of 4 adults and a teenager traveling in this area and we found the local people very friendly and helpful. Esta es una opinión general del departamento, es un departamento con muchos sitios turísticos a visitar, por ejemplo: laguna negra, pozos naturales, tranquilandia, puerta de Orión, nuevo Tolima, ciudad de piedra (todos son cercanos) en términos personales aconsejo y a inicios del verano o finalizando invierno. Tranquilandia is a very nice place where you can see the river blooming from june untill november. We went in july. We took a taxi for 20.000 cop and asked the driver to pick us up. We paid 5000 cop entrance. You can see the waterfall where you also can swim. And ofcourse the beautiful river . And puerto orion. You can by drinks in a local shop. You'll need plenty of water it can be very hot. The prices at the shop are very good. Don't go in the water as you will damage plants in the water. Presidiendo el parque principal de San José del Guaviare, nos encontramos con este templo católico que representa un estilo arquitectónico que he observado en mas de una iglesia de los Llanos Orientales y la selva, el triangular con la torre del campanario aparte, diseño que también se puede observar 200 Kms al norte en Granada (Meta). Esto no es mas que la resignificación de la Maloca, típica representación de la vivienda indígena y que se ha preservado mediante otra interpretación. He aquí la mixtura entre el estilo colonial y la tradición ancestral. Por demás su interior es sobrío, sin mayor decoración y ostentación, pensado mas en aumentar la capacidad de fieles sentados a la hora de tomar el servicio.
