National Parks
Tuparro National Park is located on the eastern border of Colombia where it meets Venezuela. It is on the Orinoco River and the Tuparro and Tomo Rivers run through the park as well. I only saw a small part of the park while I was there but it was incredible. It is extremely difficult to get to and remote. I could not get a Venezuelan visa, so I traveled down the Orinoco River from Puerto Carreno to reach the park. I stayed with my friend in the park overnight in a kind of open air treehouse. The views were so beautiful. There was so much wildlife. We saw 2 snakes, many birds, bats, and insects. The Orinoco River is stunning. The hiking is beautiful and the place is incredible.
