I Could Live Here

From Medellin I hired a taxi to take me to Guatpe. It is normally about a two hour ride, but because this was on Sunday, there was a lot of traffic and it took almost 3 hours. The driver was very accommodating and for a small hourly fee waited in Guatape while I toured around. I took a boat tour, and the scenery is amazing. The lagoon is truly a beautiful place, dotted with lovely homes, and few remnants of Pablo Escorbar. The hour long excursion is well worth it.

    Amazing Beauty
    About 90 minutes to 2 hours outside Medellin, these lakes are simply gorgeous. They are best seen frommon top of El Penol, the huge granite monolith just outside Guatape. They take the breath away.

    Spectacular Scenery
    We did this on a tour. The guides were ok. The rock is great and the views spectacular. The tour we were on gave us an hour to walk around the town of Guatape and we also stopped at another town. I would recommend finding a tour that includes a boat trip on the lake ... even 2 hour would be really nice.
