    Basin Head Provincial Park image
As a child I spent many of sunny days between the wharf & embarking on the local tradition of the “jump” Returning to the sands for a day, after 23 years. Soothes the soul! My travel sister & friend had never been! We came back the next day! Some places in life are meant to be enjoyed as much as possible when opportunity allows. Clean, accessible beaches. The right side is said to be more family based. It also houses a “beach” mobility chair and mat to go to the water!!! So amazing! The left side (over the bridge) is said to be more happening and the bridge, of course is always “jumping” If you wish you can walk further down the left side, and it becomes quieted the further you embark. If you want to float down the wharf, you can enter as the others may be. Or you can slip into the calm beach just north of the left side, you will see . Just Stand on the bridge and look towards land ;) Have a blast & sit forget to say hi to the singing sands for me! See more..

    - Wow, beautiful beach
    Beaches
    Brackley Beach image
Excellent beach, very clean and nicely maintained by Parks Canada. The area has ample parking, washroom facilities and lifeguards on the beach. The water is shallow and you can walk out for 100 ft in some areas and the water is still only to your calves, thus very safe for children. Brackley Beach stretches out for a long way so there is plenty of room for families to spread out. The sand dunes are quite breathtaking. The sand is soft and a light red colour. We were there on a very hot day in August and it was a fantastic experience, it felt like we were in the Caribbean. If hot weather permits, go to Brackley Beach and enjoy this natural wonder in PEI. In the morning of Monday August 29th, 2022, while driving through Charlottetown we decided to stop at Peake’s Wharf. Peake’s Wharf, at the city’s waterfront is the central focus for visitors and residents alike with its restaurants, craft shops, boat tours of the harbour and boardwalks along the waterfront. This area from the cruise ship wharf to Victoria Park is perfect for sightseeing; our photos were taken as we walked south of Queen Street and Water St. Parkway. Here we can see the P.E.I. Convention Centre, the boats at the Charlottetown Yacht Club, the 2022 Display, the red Play-Me-Piano, and the many locks at famous Love Locks Sculpture. Recognized by Golf Digest as Canada's Best New Course in 1994. Overlooking the north shore dunes of PEI, Crowbush continues to enthrall all those that take the challenge to conquer one of North America's very best. How can it get better than a Golf Digest five star rating? Undulating fairways, water holes with a wisp of wind, pot bunkers and challenging greens all come together to provide you with an experience not to be forgotten. Truly an unbelievable combination of nature and imagination. Of all the courses that are considered a "must play", Crowbush is certainly one of them. If you can tame the 6,903 yards at the Links, you should be able to play well anywhere. Rated four and a half stars by Golf Digest Places to Play, which raves, "Outstanding, plan your next vacation around it". SCORE Golf Magazine rated Crowbush in the Top 2 Best Value Golf Courses in Canada. Spent < 1 hour Lighthouses
    East Point Lighthouse image
As magical as when I was growing up running around the base on a family afternoon, touring our eastern peak! The gift shop is a great place to stop, shop & take in the nostalgia. Make sure you pop over to the actual light house. If you feel adventurous you can pay a small fee, and take the stairs all the way to history! It is a great view! Be prepared to climb, test your balance a wee bit on the way down and follow the signs. Stop & embrace the history on each of the floors. When you get to the top, it is as if you are looking through generations of light keepers eyes! Magic The “glass” at the top is worn and your photo won’t be crystal clear, but you can feel the air and the way rings use to be! Happy lighthousing! See more..

    - Lucy Maud Montgomery - Leaskdale Manse and Church
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
L.M. Montgomery's Cavendish National Historic Site of Canada image
These National Heritage sites have been carefully restored and furnished to honour one of Canada's most beloved authors. The committee of volunteers has worked tirelessly to give the public an authentic look at how Maud lived and wrote many of her books while living in this tiny community. We recently attended a "Cat's Meow" evening with tasty bite-sized goodies, a silent auction of "cats" decorated by local celebrities and artists along with live entertainment to raise funds for a life sized bronze statue of Lucy Maud sitting in her beloved garden. What a wonderful evening! I hope there are many more such occasions! I understand afternoon teas are also offered after many tours of the site. This group of volunteers has created a friendly and welcoming destination which I intend to revisit again and again! Government Buildings
    Government House image
This is a must see. Here our country was born. Here I visited on the day our country was attacked. Here I witnessed the emotional toughness of Canadians. This is the Lieutenant Governor's residence. On a recent business trip to Charlottetown my colleagues and I were treated to dinner at the residence (which was delicious) and a tour of the facilities. We saw the Queen's quarters and the rest of this historical edifice. The Lt.-Gov. himself served tea and coffee and we were all grateful. See more..

    - Explore the lighthouse
    Lighthouses

The Souris Lighthouse was by far the best and most interesting lighthouse we visited on our trip to PEI. You are able to go inside and go to the very top to look out. You can actually step outside once at the top. There is no fee just a donation box. So much history for you to read as you travel through. The sea glass from all over the world was my favorite. There is a large gift shop next door as well. See more..
  31. 4.5 Prince Edward Island National Park (143 reviews)
    - Great half day outdoors
Spent 1-2 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Prince Edward Island National Park image
Wandering the trails through this PEI National park to the sea is a great way to spend a half day (or more). I am sure that the ambiance changes with the weather to make each visit unique, there are two trails and boardwalks, one to St. Peter’s bay and the other to Greenwich Beach. Relatively flat and well groomed so an easy walk for all. The beach is spectacular and walkable and when I went in July the bayside walk had a myriad of wildflowers. Recommend for a pleasant little hike. See more..

    - Better than Cavendish!!
    Beaches • Parks
    Cabot Beach Provincial Park image
We camped here for one night after camping a night at Cavendish. The beach is lovely, not terribly busy. The park itself is well maintained and the staff are fantastic. We were there on a weekday so the park itself was quiet. They let us drive in to look at the sites before choosing one. We picked a very shaded site with lots of privacy but the bugs were a pain since there was a fire ban that night. There are some much more open sites if you prefer. See more..

  35. 4.5 Confederation Landing Park (119 reviews)
    - Waterfront park honoring Canada’s formation
    Parks
    Confederation Landing Park image
Confederation Landing Park was constructed and opened in 1995. It involved acquire and decommission the former Texaco Tank property and redevelop it as a Waterfront Park commemorating the 1864 Charlottetown Conference that led to the formation of Canada. The Maritime provinces were deemed separate entities and colonies of various countries. Nova Scotia is Latin for New Scotland. What was known as Canada in the mid-1860s was the current provinces of Quebec and Ontario. The 1864 Charlottetown Conference united—or “confederated”—all of the eastern provinces into one country: Canada. The waterfront park is more than just history. It’s an active area at the tip of Charlottetown. There are surrounding pubs, restaurants, shops—or a lovely place for a family picnic. As part of a tour group, I had little free time, but I did walk about the area, especially the adjoining wharfs and met many local residents. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy water views and manicured nature. See more..

We loved visiting here. There is a huge array of local art. Clothing, woodworking, ceramics, fine art, custom made furniture, sculptures, and much more. Prices can be inexpensive or high depending on what you’re looking for. If a person had the disposal income, they could drop $30-40,000 very quickly. If you venture into the rear of the property you will find an amazing and serene garden area. Many wooden, stone and cement sculptures dot the landscape. We thoroughly enjoyed wandering around. An open Heritage Lighthouse with museum, which was a cute little shop to visit with local crafts and souvenirs. The campground in the park has simple but maintained facilities for bathroom, showers and laundry. The campground however is just a series of open fields with "marked sites" and has no shade or privacy. See more..

Parking is free. The location is easy to find. I am pleased that I took the time to go this far end of the PEI. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below. See more..
