North Cape Wind Energy Interpretive Centre image
This is the farthest northern tip of PEI, the tides come together in a unique way, there is a lighthouse, an interpretive center, a walking trail along the coast, and a large wind farm. Much to see and do. Everything is free except for a walk through the interpretive center which you really don't need to do. There is signage in other places and along the walking trail. Parking is free. The location is easy to find. I am pleased that I took the time to go this far end of the PEI. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below. See more..

This small museum is easily seen in less than one hour and even my wife, who is not a history buff, found it interesting . The Acadian history in PEI is not as well known as that in Nova Scotia but the experience of the Acadians was much the same. This is a really interesting museum and very inexpensive to visit. 11. 4.0 Elmira Railway Museum (38 reviews)
    - A blast from the past
    Speciality Museums
    Elmira Railway Museum image
When I was young, in the summers, my parents would take us to the mini train in Albeton. It is one of my fondest childhood memories. Today I road that same train in Elmira, making memories with a few of my friends! As soon as we arrived, played on the play equipment, had a picnic lunch and then visited the three museums. The one we liked best was the model train, that covered the Island like the dew. Then... it was time to ride the mini train. It was a 15 minute ride through the woods. It was our favourite part. Before heading back through Souris for ice cream, we took time to play in the park one more time. See more..

Farmers' Bank of Rustico Museum & Doucet House image
Located in the area near Cavendish and Green Gables, The Farmers' Bank of Rustico Museum and Doucet House are a must see for anyone interested in the history of Prince Edward Island. The Farmers' Bank is a small gem of a museum filled with the story of early banking among the Acadians. The museum contains geneological records for early settlers of the area, and the staff was helpful in accessing those records. For our family, though, the dinner at the Doucet House was the highlight of our visit. The house has been authentically and lovingly restored, and serves as the setting for the Acadian Dinner that we enjoyed. Arnold, the director of the museum, is a treasure trove of history and joyfully shares his knowledge of the region. My 10 year old granddaughter loved making butter and churning ice cream. This was a high point in our visit to PEI! See more..
  14. 4.5 Green Park Shipbuilding Museum and Yeo House (31 reviews)
    - Very informative if you take the guided tour
    Speciality Museums
Green Park Shipbuilding Museum and Yeo House image
The first building to see is the Shipbuilding museum. There are a few artifacts and details surrounding them in this small exhibit. It’s there because James Yeo built ships around PEI and lived in the house next door. The schoolhouse is also there, but is one room with a few desks in it. The Orwell Village has a better example of a schoolhouse. The real attraction here is the Yeo House, where a wealthy family lived with their servants. There are many artifacts to see throughout and it’s a great display of many technologies of the time. The guided tour goes a few times a day (last one at 3:30) and is definitely worth timing your trip for. The guide was extremely informative and interesting, with tales of haunted toys, explanations of the objects throughout and a great sense of how these people lived was given. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. See more..

    Car Life Museum image
Seen this place just passing by, decided to stop in for a look, and these cars are amazing! A little history posted about the cars and some of these cars are fully restored, turns out after talking to the man who restores them that they actually drove them to the museum, and the majority of the cars still actually run! I'm a mechanic so seeing these pieces was a real treat, the building is a little run down but your not there to look at the building, the guy there also owns a mint condition el Camino,(my dream car). Any avid car lover got to see this place! See more..

He was a great wealth of info and shared so much about L.M that I had never known before. The displays are well done, and the story of the schoolhouse rebellion was an eye-opener! Garden of the Gulf Museum image
Our visit to the Museum was the highlight of our visit to P.E.I. We had set out to find our grandparents home and their gravesite. We had spent most of our childhood summers on the Island. Our father had passed away and we weren't sure of where our grandparents were buried. With the help of the Curator, Donna Collings, we were able to get the information we needed. She spent hours with us and nothing, but nothing was too much trouble for her. She also arranged a meeting with The Honorable Lawrence A. MacAulay, P.C., M.P. Cardigan. He and his staff were able to fill in other information on our family. We met an American gentleman in the Museum who also received invaluable information and like us, was able to find his family. We would highly recommend a visit here. you will not be sorry. If you need ANY help on heritage issues, this is the place to start. See more..

In the Red Sands district of P.E.I. is a quaint and beautiful little museum well worth the trip. One learns so many worthy history facts presented by an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable guide and owner, Jack Sorensen. He can also show you with pride his private antique radio collection and in the back you can buy many wonderful hand made wood and wool articles made by his wife and himself. There is also a beautiful trail that leads from the museum into woods and fields where you can go geocatching. This is defintely a must see on your next trip agenda. See more..
