Whilst the entry fee is a little expensive (60RMB), this is a lovely park with an opportunity to do some hiking up the mountain inside. It is walking distance from the north end of the Lijiang Old Town. We went on a weekday in January and it didn't feel too busy, though the car park was full. 1 hour is enough if you just want to see the park, but if you want to hike up the mountain then allow 3 hours. This was one of the highlights of my whole trip to Yunnan. The scenery from the top is absolutely stunning and I have no idea how the water can be so blue! We drove here from Shangri-la in January. The roads were icy and some larger cars were struggling to get up the hills, but we managed in our little car. We stayed in a guesthouse in the village at the bottom called Naxi Family (phone no 15284574386 - they only speak Chinese), then watched the sunrise the following morning which was incredible! 2 hours is enough to see this, but I would thoroughly recommend staying overnight. The park is nice for a park but nothing spectacular. The butterfly is only available once a year so forget the butterfly as well :D But the butterfly spring is beautiful. It had crystal clear emerald colored water with carps swimming inside. With the reflection of the tree above the water, and reflection of the coins in the pond, it looked like an art installation.See more..
