  1. 4.5 Railway Museum (Het Spoorwegmuseum) (1.376 reviews)
    - A fantastic exhibition of Dutch railway history
Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
    Railway Museum (Het Spoorwegmuseum) image
Just so many varied exhibits, trains and memorabilia from different generations. Intersting to see a train there that was only on service earlier in the year, that shows commitment to preservation of all generations of vehicles. There is also an interesting sideshow about Hyperloop as well, looking to the future. There is plenty of space to explore everything, some interactive stuff for the youngsters, and everything also really well explained on the info plaques for each exhibit. Also a reasonably priced cafe in there where snacks and coffee are available when you want a break from walking around! Was an easily spent 3 or more hours and I thought very good value for the entry fee, and would definitely recommend it to anyone with an interest in transport and railways. See more..
  2. 4.5 Kasteel de Haar (1.110 reviews)
    - Beautiful fairy tale castle
Wednesday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Speciality Museums
    Kasteel de Haar image
The largest castle in Netherlands. It is owned by a private family, but now it has been converted to a museum and you can visit inside as well. To visit inside the ticket is 18 euros and it includes the access to the castle park. If you are only going to visit the castle park then the ticket is 7 euros. Castle looks absolutely breathtaking from outside. The view from the garden is very nice. But consider going inside as well. You can feel the luxurious life the people has led. Everything inside is in perfect conditions and expect spend around 2 hours to complete the tour. There are lockers inside the castle to keep your belongings. You are not allowed to carry back lacks or any bags with you. If you carry a extensible camera stick, you have to keep it at the shortest length possible as it could damage the property inside and as the staff told us it could trigger a safety alarm as well if you extend at the wrong place. Museum Speelklok image
Museum Speelklok, the most cheerful museum in the Netherlands! During a visit to the typical Dutch Museum Speelklok, cheerful live music will surround you from centuries-old self-playing musical instruments. The history of these instruments started back in 16th century the Netherlands with the use of church carillons. Over the centuries, the general desire of people to be surrounded by music, led to the invention of all sorts of self-playing musical instruments: musical clocks, musical boxes, orchestrions (self-playing orchestras) and the traditional Dutch street organs. All of these instruments, including the famous street organ named Arabier and the so-called 8th world wonder the Violina, can be admired and heard during the lively museum tour. Thanks to the highly skilled Restoration Workshop, the collection is kept playing and this craft can be passed on from this generation to the next. See more..

    - A good place to escape from busy city life

Miffy Museum is located opposite to the Central Museum where you can buy the entrance tickets to the Miffy Museum. I think miffy museum is for little kids or kidults or miffy fans. There is a big miffy soft toy sitting at the entrance lounge room of the 'miffy house' and it has turned a little grey and black, which I can tell how popular she is! I personally think it is a good place to escape from a busy, stressful city life. You will find your innocent childhood memory there and it doesn't cost much to enter. I think it is 4 euros (March-2017) on top of my head. See more..

    Mondriaanhuis image
The understanding of the role of the nature that showed the cubical forms to a little Piet and rooted the creativity ideas which later were reflected in his creation, comes to you when you take the paths which lead to the house of Mondrian’s birth. Cubical forms are everywhere in this little neighborhood of Amersfoort. This musea is an eye opener to several unknown details from the life of Piet Mondrian and his early works. It’s also the place to discovery the talented artists who’re exposing in this museum. The important aspect of this house-museum is that despite the non spacious size of it, it is wheelchair friendly! Museum de Heksenwaag image
We were walking through the busy market place in Oudewater when we stumbled upon the Witches' Weighhouse. After watching a short video on witch-finding and looking at the exhibits on the upper floor we began the serious process of determining whether either of us were witches. First we were verbally examined about our likes, dislikes, professions and attitudes, then put to the real test - to determine if our weights were below normal for mere human beings. Witches, of course, are weightless or light, enabling them to fly through the air. We mounted the ancient scales while the curator added weights to the other side. Amazingly, she had sufficient to prove beyond doubt that we hadn't made a pact with Old Nick, so she issued us with certificates to verify it. A fun and informative half-hour. See more..

Much of the museum is in dutch, but we were provided with english text sheets at the entrance and there was some info and videos given in english (one can also use the google lens app and translate everything quickly if you really dont want to miss anything). Overall a very a nice place to spend a couple of hours, very cozy and interesting <3 See more..

    - Wonderful. A learning experience.

    Healey Museum image
Being a long term Austin-Healey owner I have been wanting to visit the Healey Museum from the day it opened. How wonderful it was from the moment we were warmly welcomed by Hans who then personally escorted us through the Museum, speaking at length about the individual vehicles. Hans was also pleased to show us the wonderful collection of model Healeys and Austin-Healeys as well as the extensive array of memorabilia available. The Museum is well laid out with more than adequate room to allow close inspection of everything on exhibition. Meticulously maintained and displayed while set in gorgeous surroundings. A must visit for everyone interested in the rich history of Healeys and Austin-Healeys. See more..

We liked the Herman Brood exhibition of the museum. Very colorful. The museum is rather small. The short movie about the time the artist came to the Voorstraat in Vianen (an hour late and under influence) to paint portraits for two hundred guilders, was very funny to watch. See more..

Came down here coincidentally at the festival weekend, where the whole area was jumping, and there were boats and barges fro all over the Netherlands there. The museum is very interesting, and when I was there, there were demonstrations of all the crafts of boat building and heritage. Only a short bus ride from Utrecht, and well worth a trip. See more..
  20. 3.5 Museum Oud Soest (11 reviews)
    - Lovely musea established with love to Soest
    Speciality Museums
    Museum Oud Soest image
My friend suggested to travel to Soest in order to see the exposition of Cornelis de Bruin, Dutch expressionist and ceramist. What a shame that his works are not well known to the broader public as his depictions of landscapes with pastels colors are magic. Besides discovering the paintings, I was completely amazed by the building of this museum which used to be the monastery, the exhibits here but most of all I was fascinated by the passion and the love put by its volunteers who are warm hearted people of Soest knowing lots about the history of their city and about each and every single detail in this pretty big museum. The entrance commission which is 5 euro can only be paid in cash or via bank transfer, volunteers are not putting pressure on you by immediate payment and letting you in prior to your later payment which is rare these days. You need at least 2 hours to be able to see the key objects in this museum. Don’t miss it! See more..

The museum is located at the same place with the "Oude Algemene Begraafplaats Driebergen". At this moment there is an exhibition on burial in Europe at one side of the museum and on the other side there is an exposition of the history of "Speelweek" from 1969-2019. Speelweek is an outdoor kids activity at the end of the summer holiday. It's very interesting to see the stuff people wearing for the burial in the past. There's pictures of the people who were buried in this cemetery. The museum as well as the cemetery is open on saturday at 01.30 pm to 04.30 pm. The volunteers will welcome you very friendly. It is a place you need to visit when you're in Driebergen as it's an historical place, as well the building as the cemetery. Parking place is at the supermarket area just at the opposite of this museum. See more..
