4.5Qionghai Lake(51 reviews) - The Oriental Pearl - Beautiful and serene scenic area Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Bodies of Water • Geologic Formations
This oriental pearl (so named by Marco Polo) of a paradise is a great place for a “getaway from the big city” vacation. The air is extremely clean and fresh. The locals are very friendly. Much of the cuisine is about as organic as it comes. The lake is about as pollution-free as it gets. The scenery is fantastic. The Qionghai Lake and Lushan Mountain area in aggregate is about 80 square kilometres. The lake is about 1,510 metres above sea level, and the area has an average annual temperature of 18C. A sign in the area says: “Xichang is called Spring City and Moon City because it is warm in winter and cool in summer, there is full of sunshine, fresh air and bright moon.” Qionghai Lake is located in Sichuan Province, about five kilometres from Xichang City. On the east it is at the foot of Daliangshan Mountain, and on the south to nearby Lushan Mountain. The lake is approximately 31 square kilometres, with an average depth of 14 metres.See more..
5.0Huaying Mountain Tourism Area(38 reviews) - Beautiful place in nature for a walk, could be perfect for couples Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Geologic Formations
Ticket only 42 yuan (purchased online). Parked the car near the main entrance, took shuttle bus to the spot from where everyone must go on foot. The walk around the mountain was a bit tiring as it took us over 3 hours but the general impression is excellent. There are several scenic spots to make either selfies or beautiful panorama photos. Walk in a nature, clean air, sound of animals, can be a very romantic afternoon with your partner. Apart from the nature and the rocks we went to a cave, we took a slide downhill and also a zipline. It was fun and especially my daughter enjoyed it. Just to clarify, these things are paid extra. Shuttle bus (40 yuan), slide (20 yuan), zipline (35 yuan). For some people, this place might be too hot in summer so possible the best way to go there might beginning of October (1 week of national holidays in China). See more..
4.0Leidong Ping(18 reviews) - Must go place to take the cable car Geologic Formations
This is a place to pass through if you need to take the cable car. You need to walk for quite a long distance before you reach this place. It was very tough to walk in the snow and ice during winter time. Crampons are needed to prevent your shoes from slipping and falling down to the wet ice. This is a very beautiful place and before you reach here, you also need to q up for a long time before you can take the cable car to go up to the Golden Summit.See more..
3.5Doutuan Mountain(11 reviews) - Autumn's best wear in Doutuan mountain Mountains • Religious Sites • Geologic Formations
We've ascended Doutuan mountain during a weekend in the mid-autumn of 2017. The weather was perfect and the sky clear, so we decided to take the 2h pedestrian path to the top (a 10min cable car ride is also available - 50rmb/person return ticket or 35rmb/person one-way). Entrance fee to the mountain is 67rmb/person. There are two main roads that lead to the top, the right entrance leads to the hotel from where you can hike up to the top for few minutes. The left entrance will lead to the 800 "steep" steps, followed by a long paved way and then more steps again (total number of steps exceeds 1800 with casual rest areas, temples or toilets for a break). A vegetarian restaurant is located near the playground, where you can find various activities (mountain coaster, treetop trekking, zip-line, etc..). The main temple could be found a little further above. From there, a short walk would lead to bottom of the two rocky peaks that represent the symbol of the Doutuan mountain. Pay 20rmb/person if you want to see the tight rope act. An awesome day trip, very highly recommended..See more..

4.5Hell Canyon of Kasi(9 reviews) - A rare find in Daocheng Religious Sites • Geologic Formations
Tried doing this hike twice. The first time, we did not know what to expect (due to very little available info, even from locals), and did not pack lunch. Hiked for 2 hours and decided to head back. The second time round, we went better prepared with sufficient water and food. Hiked for 4 hours along the canyon, which is a continuous upward climb, gentle incline along a river. Water in the river was crystal clear as it came from the surrounding snow mountains. Pristine primary forest surrounded us all the way. Expect wild flowers and plenty of butterflies accompanying you on your hike during summer. What's really great about this place is that we did not bump into anyone else, other than 2 local villagers herding cows. We read on a Chinese blog that there are 9 wooden bridges to cross, prior to clearing the bush line. However, after managing past the 9th bridge and hiking for another 45 mins, it did not look like we were clearing the bush line anytime soon. Taking into account the weather conditions (rain clouds approaching) and time, we decided to head back. We spent a total of 6 hours there, 4 hours up and 2 hours down. To get there, we hired a car and driver to take us to Kasi Village. The trailhead is right where the flagpoles are. You will need to have the driver wait for your return as there is no other way you can get a ride out. See more..
4.0Guangwu Mountain(6 reviews) - The wu factor! Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Mountains • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests • Geologic Formations
The mist that curled around the famous Guangwu mountains only served to heighten their majestic formations. Every now and again we would get a peep at the lush green slopes and then they were gone in a white haze of wu.(mist) The air was thin and we were tired with the uphill walking but it was so worthwhile. An incredible experience at 7500 feet up! However, it had been a long drive from the village to the car park (over one hour) and the small shop there sold only Chinese vacuum packed snacks. The toilets were revolting so go prepared!See more..
4.0Jinkouhe Grand Canyon(6 reviews) - 雄伟壮观的金口河大峡谷令人感叹!值得一看 Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Geologic Formations
The cave is huge and it's cold. Bring a jacket in the summer. Some of the interior was vandalized and they repaired it with concrete and in one place I saw the concrete vandalized. Wat a shame. It was weird to see a laxer display near the back of the cave. Definitely a worth while see. Plan 2 or 3 hours if you would like to take your time and not hurry.See more..
The location of this place was very remote. Just a 30-45 minute bus ride from Xichang city and you'll find yourself in an Yi Minority village within the heart of this location. We stayed in a not so fantastic hotel (it was worth it for the night) for as little as 60¥ (for a 3 bed room) - so cheap! We paid our entry fee - half price for students by the way - and entered the site at 4pm. We thought we were running late but the place really isn't that large and you can scale from one end to the other within 1 hour or less if you're quick enough. The best thing about this day was climbing high enough to watch the sunset fall behind the mountains. A surreal experience and no photography could capture that feeling.See more..

5.0Jiulao Cavern(4 reviews) - worth the side trip Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Geologic Formations at RMB6 per person it was totally worth it - took about 30-45 minutes to get to / explore - trail wound around mountain with thousand foot drop-offs (railings and safe trail all the way so no worries) to cave entrance. path into mountain interior felt like a scene from Lord of the Rings. sureal to imagine taoist monks seeking immortality via meditation in this cave - clearly a cave spanning thousands of years of human fascination. if you're nearby, you should go!See more..
5.0Batai Mountain(2 reviews) - A Scenic Adventure Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Mountains • Geologic Formations
Batai Mountain is stunning. Perfect for photo enthusiasts, the views are stunning. The landscape is practically untouched, which is a rare find in China The glass Bridge and glass walkways are definitely the highlight of the trip. There seems to be only one hotel at the foot of the mountain/scenic area (Mingyue Bashan Hotel) and it's very decent, comfortable and clean. You'll need to get to Wanyuan by train first, and then find transport to the scenic area (bus, or taxi or even Didi if you can find a driver who is willing to take the trip). If your Chinese isn't very good, make sure you have a good translator app to help you in Wanyuan. The locals are really very helpful and there is a bus station right outside the train station. The scenic area at Batai itself has so many adventure options available! Hot air balloons, ziplines, slides, walkways, mountain climbing and even a roller coaster at the summit. Getting to the summit is easy with the bus transport available. I suggest to start at the summit and work your way down through all the adventures. The ticketing office staff are super helpful and you can plan your day out easily. Absolutely worth visiting, and perfect for a 3 day getaway. If you're in Sichuan ... This is one of the most beautiful sites it has to offer. See more..
We entered the mountain pass through the 2009 reconstructed gate to the Three Kingdoms. The pass lies between two mountains and protected by steep cliffs. In ancient times, it was a major strategic military area, which emperors and warlords preferred to control. Now it is becoming a major tourist attraction.See more..
